Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

On the day before Christmas, the most important day of his year, Santa sleeps in; from there the disasters snowball. The jolly fat man can't get the reindeer to fly and his sack of toys won't fit through the workshop door. Such is the stuff of Santa's worst nightmare as depicted in Pfister's (The Rainbow Fish) holiday fantasy. When Santa realizes it's all a dream, he manages his Christmas duties like clockwork. Fuzzily edged watercolors with plenty of icy white snow set an appropriate wintry tone, but the it's-only-a-dream conceit is an unwelcome old chestnut. Ages 5-8.

From Kirkus Reviews

Wake Up, Santa Claus! ($15.95; PLB $15.88; Sept. 16, 1996; 32 pp.; 1-55858-605-9; PLB 1-55858-606-7): Santa oversleeps, can't find his boots, forgets to shovel the walkway, feed the reindeer, bag the presents. Then comes the big clue: Santa's sleigh runners are cracked and rusted. A bad dream is what we have here, and Santa wakes to his alarm clock and finds everything shipshape. Despite Santa's frantic behavior, readers will soon be able to predict that everything that can go wrong will go wrong, and may guess that there's a misunderstanding somewhere. This is best served to Pfister's many fans, who won't see the framed picture of Rainbow Fish on the wall as a not-so-subtle piece of cross-promotion. 5.0 out of 5 stars Wake Up Santa Clause, December 19, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Wake Up, Santa Claus! (Hardcover)
The book I'm going to be talking about is Wake up Santa Claus! The book is written By Marcus Pfister. I like this picture book it is amazing.
I feel really nervous for Santa. He goes through a lot during this story. He wakes up late during the story and can't find any of his things like his hat. After all it turned out to be a dream. Santa was happier than ever. The bag of presents was small enough to fit through the door.
I think this book really gets my attention. I think I would not mind reading this book again. I recommend you to read this book it is fantastic. I think this book has a lot of details and descriptive words.

Santa awakens from a long winter's nap...OH NO! Has he missed Christmas Eve? No -there's still time...all the toys have been sacked, the sleigh is ready, the reindeers are -- OH NO! THEY'RE NOT!! NOTHING is ready!!- the sack of toys won't fit through the door, the sled is rusted - but how could it be? Santa polished it...or did he? The reindeer are hungry...and aren't about to budge...OH DEAR....what's more, a raging blizzard is sure to make travel next to impossible....poor Santa....can this really be happening? Well, dear readers.....

(it can't..and if you can't wait to find out, the story ends happily ever after!)
