4.0 out of 5 stars An unusual and cheerful romance, July 22, 1999

This review is from: Lord Wakeford's Gold Watch (A Zebra Regency Romance) (Paperback)
You'll be charmed by perky, intelligent, resourceful Willie, a ladies' maid par excellance who covers up so well--too well!--her beautiful but rather scatterbrained mistress's kleptomaniac tendencies. A cheerful, unusual Regency-era Cinderella story that serves up the requisite handsome "prince".

3.0 out of 5 stars a cute, albeit slow romance....., May 25, 2008
this semi comical Regency romance is about Willie-a foundling, taken from an orphanage at age 4 and raised alongside Katherine, a Baroness. Willie is to be Katherine's lady's maid, but also her protector, as Katherine is a secret kleptomaniac who tends to pilfer small objects when nervous. The small spritely Willie is kept on her toes trying to stop Katherine as well as replace the items in secret.

Enter the dashing and kind Lord Wakeford, who sees Willie trying to return an item, and thinking SHE'S the thief! What ensues is a lighthearted comedy of errors and a very light romance. While this Regency was overall enjoyable it does drag a bit in the middle as well as is a bit too cliche' to recommend other than if you can get it very cheaply.

3 stars.
