Book Description

June 28, 2008 Gideon Series (Book 2)
New York Times bestselling author Eric Jerome Dickey sizzles in this rapid-fire sequel to Sleeping with Strangers, which finds international hit man Gideon waking up with his past haunting him and danger knocking at his door. After a heated encounter inside a London hotel room - where he was pursued by three very different women - Gideon finds himself living in a world where there’s no one to trust. Someone has taken out a hit on the hit man - but who? Could it be the man he left alive in Tampa, the woman who taught him to kill, the scorned woman he still desires, or some other unseen enemy? The clock is ticking as Gideon struggles to find out who from his past may have ordered the hit, while attempting to outsmart the assassin who was sent to kill him - a cold-blooded killer who isn’t afraid to harm any woman involved with Gideon and is determined to make his reputation off Gideon’s death. As the hunter becomes the hunted, Gideon’s hedonistic lifestyle turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse. He will need to find his friends - and also depend on his enemies - to get out of the game alive.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Picking up where Sleeping with Strangers left off, Dickey's latest novel finds hit man Gideon in London, where another assassin, a mysterious man with a broken nose, is hot on his trail. Gideon's most recent target was a rapper, Big Bad Wolf. The rival rapper who hired Gideon for the hit, Sledge, was recently assassinated, and Gideon assumes he is the latest target. The nonstop narrative follows Gideon as he evades the assassin, searches for the truth about his hooker mother, continues his involvement with tough girl Arizona (who wants Gideon to kill her older sister), tries to figure out who ordered the hit on him and finds time for some explicitly chronicled fantasy sex. Though the revelations about who's behind what are a stretch and the ending is a little too much on the rosy side, there's a lot of fun to be had in watching Gideon work his brutal trade, and the high-octane narrative will have readers burning through page after page. 5.0 out of 5 stars Gideon Gideon Gideon, August 15, 2007
By
Oh, man. What can I say about this book? It was perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. I was so shocked to find that Mr. Dickey had cleverly hidden a previous character in plain sight. How he managed to keep this fact from us throughout an entire book, has me baffled. I had to go back and reread the Prequel, and still couldn't figure it out. Over hte years, his writing style has evolved into something so much more than romance or contemporary fiction, whatever it was. For so many years, I've shied away from the action thriller books, but that's exactly what this was, with a tiny bit of romance thrown in.

There were so many things going on at once, his style of switching back and forth keeping me entertained, and confused at the same time. I loved how ge let suspeense convince you of what had happended then turned right around and convinced you of omething totally different. I can't wait for the next one.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Long Way Around...., November 11, 2007
By
I've purchased and read all of EJD's books. These last two were a big let down to me. I think it could've been one book. It was like a continuous run on sentence that led to the book store with black windows. Had to stop and think if this was porn I was reading or what. I was dissappointed and felt like I was bamboozled into buying two books. Really unbelieveable. Too much of nothing.
