Oh, man. What can I say about this book? It was perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. I was so shocked to find that Mr. Dickey had cleverly hidden a previous character in plain sight. How he managed to keep this fact from us throughout an entire book, has me baffled. I had to go back and reread the Prequel, and still couldn't figure it out. Over hte years, his writing style...

How he managed to keep this fact from us throughout an entire book, has me baffled. I had to go back and reread the Prequel, and still couldn't figure it out. Over hte years, his writing style has evolved into something so much more than romance or contemporary fiction, whatever it was. For so many years, I've shied away from the action thriller books, but that's exactly what this was, with a tiny bit of romance thrown in.

There were so many things going on at once, his style of switching back and forth keeping me entertained, and confused at the same time. I loved how ge let suspeense convince you of what had happended then turned right around and convinced you of omething totally different. I can't wait for the next one.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Long Way Around...., November 11, 2007
By
I've purchased and read all of EJD's books. These last two were a big let down to me. I think it could've been one book. It was like a continuous run on sentence that led to the book store with black windows. Had to stop and think if this was porn I was reading or what. I was dissappointed and felt like I was bamboozled into buying two books. Really unbelieveable. Too much of nothing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing!!!!!!!!!!, August 14, 2007

This book seemed rushed, and at times did not make sense. While I enjoy the occasional sex scenes, this book focused too much attention on Gideon, Lola and Mrs. Jones having sex. Most of the book did not make sense, and I found myself loosing interest FAST!!!! I have all of Eric's books, and the last two are not what I have grown to expect from Eric.

This review is from: Waking with Enemies (Paperback)
E J Dickey was once my favorite author. My favorite book was "Cheaters". His gift was unbelievable. I stayed up until 5 am reading because I could not put down his books. I don't know what has happened lately but I couldn't finish "Waking with Enemies". The book is smeared with unnecessary trashy sex scenes that last way too long. I got tired of reading it and was disgusted after a few chapters. Even though I would like to know how the story ends, I just can't keep reading. Some how it feels like he has began competing with Zane. If you like trashy, erotic novels then you will like this book. If you are interested in a good storyline without raunchy sex scenes, leave this one on the shelf. I was really disappointed and I don't think I will be buying anymore of his books. I wish he would go back to writing books like "Sister, sister", "cheaters", and "friend and lovers".

2.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't tell..., October 1, 2007
I couldn't tell if this was fiction or straight porn. I would have considered EJD a complete marketing genius for this sequel of books being put out within months of each other, but I really was disappointed.I like sex, but really now, do we really need that much. I believe that it was at least 180 pages dedicated to freakin'...okay, im sure there was something else to write about.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Terrific Page Turner!, September 22, 2007
By

Eric Dickey's "Sleeping with Strangers" was for me just a terrific book. I eagerly read it over a two day period. The story moved along a fast pace with violence and a plot that kept me glued to the pages. The sex scenes were a bit much, but fortunately it didn't take away from the unusual main character, Gideon, as I found myself rooting for him at every turn. I think that was a result of the author spending a large amount of time developing his character traits. But then now that I think about it all the characters are well defined. I thought that the story was lacking in the mystery department. Overall, the book was an excellent read and I would gladly recommend it to my friends.

Well EJD.. look what you caused.... Now what are you going to do to feed my appetite for more? You better start writing, 'cause I need me something damn good to read! You're the best!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars My first Dickey Book Series, September 14, 2007
Sleeping with Strangers and Waking with Enemies were the first books written by Eric Dickey that I've read. They were great, I loved them. The writing drew me in to the story. After reading Sleeping with Strangers I couldn't wait to get my hands on Waking with Enemies. I read it in two days. The book was intense and suspenseful it was a great read. Dickey did focus on the sex between Gid, Lola and, Mrs. Jones to much in the beginning of the book; I wish he would of spend some more time on the feeling the three started to have for each. But, overall the series was THE B-O-M-B!!!. I hope Dickey brings these characters back in future books until then I'm going to reading this series again and read for some other Dickey books. I like his style!!!!!
