Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
Picking up where Sleeping with Strangers left off, Dickey's latest novel finds hit man Gideon in London, where another assassin, a mysterious man with a broken nose, is hot on his trail. Gideon's most recent target was a rapper, Big Bad Wolf. The rival rapper who hired Gideon for the hit, Sledge, was recently assassinated, and Gideon assumes he is the latest target. The nonstop narrative follows Gideon as he evades the assassin, searches for the truth about his hooker mother, continues his involvement with tough girl Arizona (who wants Gideon to kill her older sister), tries to figure out who ordered the hit on him and finds time for some explicitly chronicled fantasy sex. Though the revelations about who's behind what are a stretch and the ending is a little too much on the rosy side, there's a lot of fun to be had in watching Gideon work his brutal trade, and the high-octane narrative will have readers burning through page after page. 4.0 out of 5 stars What About Your Friends?, August 7, 2007
By Urban-Reviews.com (Urban-Reviews.com) - See all my reviews

Gideon is back with the mysterious man with the broken nose hot on his heels. Gideon is still reeling from the foot chase he had with this mysterious hit man and is still trying to find out who put the hit out on him. But is Gideon really prepared to handle the truth? To further complicate matters, Arizona pops back into his life and sucks Gideon into her own personal deadly drama that he doesn't have time for. Gideon's mind is put temporarily at ease after an unforgettable heated encounter with two lovely women in his London hotel room. But he still views everyone as a potential enemy, even Arizona. Gideon also finds out more shocking revelations about his childhood from his mother. Time is winding up and Gideon had better find out who his real friends and enemies are before it's too late.

Waking With Enemies is the perfect sequel by Eric Jerome Dickey. Dickey smoothly picked up right at the exact scene where Sleeping With Strangers left off, something that sequels rarely do. Readers are once again treated to the action-packed storyline that was featured in the first novel. This book answers a lot of questions that were left unanswered in the first book. There are plenty of unique twists and turns in this story that you must pay close attention to. In this fast paced drama, nothing is what it appears to be. Readers will be shocked when it is revealed who is behind the hit on Gideon. Dickey also included a healthy portion of intensely erotic sex scenes that provided a delightful addition to this storyline. Waking With Enemies is an engrossing page-turner that will satisfy Eric Jerome Dickey's existing fans and will create new ones.

part one made me want to find out what happen so I rush out to buy the book when part 2 was release I was so dissapointed because of all the Sex in the dialouge I was waiting til the author got to the point but it was nothing but sex and slang words I just was so dissapointed because it was just to to much I feel strongly that it took away from the story line and I could not keep up with the story half of the time I had to shut and close down because of the SEX SEX SEX for a minute thought that the author forgot the story plot line I really love Eric Jerome Dickey but this book was just to far out their was not what I expected

4.0 out of 5 stars A Terrific Page Turner!, September 22, 2007
By Sharon Adams (Columbus, Ohio) - See all my reviews
Eric Dickey's "Sleeping with Strangers" was for me just a terrific book. I eagerly read it over a two day period. The story moved along a fast pace with violence and a plot that kept me glued to the pages. The sex scenes were a bit much, but fortunately it didn't take away from the unusual main character, Gideon, as I found myself rooting for him at every turn. I think that was a result of the author spending a large amount of time developing his character traits. But then now that I think about it all the characters are well defined. I thought that the story was lacking in the mystery department. Overall, the book was an excellent read and I would gladly recommend it to my friends.
