4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 Stars - Almost Perfect December 1, 2012

Waking Up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly

This could have been the conventional type of romance. One which consists of an `accidental' marriage that the pair decides to try to make real. It would have been good too. Instead, this author took what could have been a trite and silly fairy tale type unbelievable romance and turned it into something more...something a little more real. Moreover, it is a lot better than the usual conventional themes.

Let's face it, it you are reading a book like this you love romance and you may even be willing, like I am, to take yourself out of reality and throw all illusions of real-life into the wind. And I think this book actually takes that step back from reality and turns this into a book that is just a little more special.

We have, as I said, a sort of typical romance of accidental marriage. We have the perfect man, or what passes a perfect man offering to stay married for the idea of a strong partnership/marriage and father-hood. But, of course he wants more. However, not the way it seems we should be expecting. All along, he has had to persuade Megan that she was doing the right thing. You start thinking that he loves her and really does want this to go farther than a mere partnership. But, alas, this is not to be. However, the interesting part is just beginning when he sees the error of his ways.
What I did not see coming was just why Connor didn't want love in his life, and to get to that point in the book the ride was a pretty interesting one.

The characters, while not 100% believable, are likeable. The humor in the story is dry and well written and the emotional aspects are fairly believable. It was a short novel so things are not as developed as I would have liked. Nevertheless, for a quick, light, fun read I think that this will make for a good one.

Characters were liable. Story was fun. Sexual tension was present without the smut. Overall a good Saturday afternoon read. I would read more by this author.

3.0 out of 5 stars A fun romantic read. December 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Waking Up Married is a fun, quick read, and was just the story I needed for a romance fix. Megan goes to Vegas for her cousin's wedding, and after a night of drinks, she wakes up next to Connor, married. She has no recollection of the night before and immediately wants to find a lawyer. Except. He doesn't want a divorce.

Connor is convinced that she's the one, the perfect partner, and convinces her to give their marriage a 3 month trial. She finally agrees, but she's determined to show him all the sides of herself to prove that he doesn't really want to be married to her. He's equally determined to show her that she can't throw him, and he's committed.

This story was an afternoon escape - I read it in one sitting. The only reason I didn't rate this higher is because even though Megan is independent, smart, and likable as a character... It bothered me that she could so easily uproot her life to move out of state (even if she thought at the time it was temporary) to live with Connor. Besides her cousin, she had no one else in her life. Where was the best friend trying to talk some sense in her, or, telling her to take a chance?

Was the plot predictable? Absolutely. Did I care? Nope. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic, fun read. I'll definitely be checking out more titles from Harlequin KISS.

3.5 stars.

I really liked this book. The characters were likeable with a great sense of humor. I was definitely drawn in from the first page. It was a refreshing, light read. My only regret is that it ended so soon and I would have liked more. Guess I'll be buying more titles from this author!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and Funny... January 5, 2014

I adore a good romantic comedy, both in movies and books and Waking Up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly was exactly what I was looking for on this super snowy day. Conservative Megan is in Vegas for her cousin’s wedding attempting to mind her own business and keep her head down, but thanks to the interference of her cousin’s bridesmaid’s things get a little wilder than she intended.

Conner is fresh out of a relationship of convenience and determined to get lost in his alcohol and have a good time with his best friend, until he runs into Megan or more accurately she runs into him. I really liked how they met. In so many stories you have the guy initially being the aggressor, but when Megan introduced herself to him only to shut up the other girls she was with I was glad Conner didn’t let her go without spending some time getting to know each other.

I also liked how the book started with them already married and sort of rewind time in the first couple of chapters giving us pieces of the puzzle so we could see what happened the previous night. I enjoyed the quick wit between Megan and Conner and their constant banter made me grin. I was so happy that Kelly made Megan smart and independent.

So often you see the main character falling for the main guy immediately, but here we got to see her put up a fight and Conner had to earn her trust, respect, and love. The fact that she didn’t just come out a sleep with him was good too, the sexual tension was incredibly intense and well worth the wait when they finally got together.

While I loved the plot and pacing of Waking Up Married, I think the only real issue I had through the story was how old fashioned Conner seemed. Now don’t get me wrong, I loved Conner’s possessive side and I loved how much he cared about Megan.

Mira Lyn Kelly grew up in the Chicago area and earned her degree in Fine Arts from Loyola University. She met the love of her life while studying abroad in Rome, Italy, only to discover he'd been living right around the corner from her for the previous two years. Having spent her twenties working and playing in the Windy City, she's now settled with her husband in rural Minnesota where their four beautiful children provide an excess of action, adventure, and entertainment.

With writing as her passion and inspiration striking at the darnedest times, Mira can always be found with a notebook at the ready. (More than once she's been caught by the neighbors, covered in grass clippings, scribbling away atop the compost container!)

When she isn't reading, writing, or running to keep up with the kids, she loves watching movies, blabbing with the girls, and cooking with her husband and friends.

Mira Lyn Kelly also writes Erotic Romance under the name Moira McTark

How do we get this book???
Is there any way that you can identify what location this is "purchase-able", I have noticed this on a number of books, but this is the first that I have followed to a forum.
