This review is from: Waking Up in Corporate America: The Seven Secrets That Opened My Eyes (Paperback)
Eric Pennington has penned a book that can inspire and help anyone who has ever worked in a structured corporate environment. He's smart and very thoughtful about the purpose of business and our attitudes about work and life. Insightful, meaningful and a very easy read for those of us pressed for time in our busy lives. Every leader should have this on their bookshelf.

Eric has written a very interesting, compelling little book. Though I was only in the midst of Corporate America for about 4 years (until the Tech Bubble burst), I could readily relate to almost all of the stories he includes, many humorous and tragic at the same time. Eric points the way out of the malaise of the work-a-day rat-race to a more meaningful, more authentic human existence that is possible even within the corporate world. And even if you don't work for a large company, there are plenty of treasures and life-lessons to be unearthed within these pages that will enrich anyone's life who's willing to pursue the truth they inhabit.

Waking Up In Corp America,
This review is from: Waking Up in Corporate America: The Seven Secrets That Opened My Eyes (Paperback)
As a stressed out member of corp America I find these seven secrets to be enlightening. Each one is very powerful in it's own way and the quotes used by the author couldn't be better. At the risk of giving away to much here's what I mean: Secret #6 Embrace Reality. "Don't stand in a bucket trying to lift yourself up by the handle."---Winston Churchill
Check it out... You'll be glad you did.

Although I work in a semi-corporate environment, I could relate to the issues that the author identified toward employees becoming stale in their careers. The common issues of not being able to express your creative thinking and to uphold your ethic morals are all too common in not only corporate America, but in any work environment where the employee feels locked into a job because of paid benefits or pension plans. This book compels the reader to perform a self-analysis on their livelihood, goals and spiritual well-being. It is amazing to realize how many workers in corporate America are sacrificing God given natural talents for a 40 hour weekly job. I only wish I had the courage to explore my personal talents and not become a slave to the corporate world. Reading this book was my first step towards pursuing that dream. Thank you for waking me up Eric.
