Shola, the writer of this eBook, has used the character Kara, who is in her mid teenage to portray what it means to live life with so much patience and contentment. It is not easy for her to be the girl she is but she strives to adopt these virtues. From the conflicts she has with her parents from time to time to trying to live amidst so much confusion that surrounds her life, Kara is an indication of strength and a character to mimic. Through her life, the author has managed to showcase the power of being patient in life despite the challenges an individual might face. She goes ahead to illustrate the importance of being satisfied with one’s own life, what they have, what they are able to do and even to accept what is beyond their capability. In the end, Kara gets to reap the fruits of being content with one’s life and circumstances as well as persevering all through their life. This book targets both teenagers and parents because it is a true reflection of their day to day lives. However, it is a must-read for all because everyone has something to learn not just from the intriguing and challenging life of Kara but the diversity of the book. Through the author’s own words, the eBook is ‘a guide to contentment’.

Author Shola Lawrence has penned an eBook worthy of reading. "Waking Up Eighty" touches on a number of different topics. Shola manages to tie all of these topics, some of them difficult, some humorous, together in a cohesive read that will bear relevance to the life of almost any reader. The book is suited for all ages, a broad audience, because of its easy readability and yet remaining open for connections with the reader, no matter who he or she might be. This would be a great book for a mother and teenage or even tween daughter to perhaps purchase, read in tandem, and then discuss its various themes and topics.

Pick up a copy of this book. Read it for yourself, and I guarantee that you will want to share it with someone, regardless of whether you have kids or if they have kids. It's a solid read, appropriate for many ages, and has many good points. Lawrence pays a lot of attention to detail in this work, making it an easy read but still believable: two things which are essential if you're going to sell this to a teenage girl as a good, yet beneficial book to read in her free time instead of texting her friends.
