5.0 out of 5 stars Great song
This song is just perfect for singing and dancing around the house. I love Katy Perry and this song will make a great addition to any person's collection.

2.0 out of 5 stars If you're not careful, Katy's latest single can get on your nerves. 2.75 stars.
It's fun, it's poppy the chorus is energetic but ultimately, the song itself is kinda forgettable.

Katy's a pretty girl and I commend her for writing or co-writing all of her tracks on One of the Boys, but from what I've heard from the singles, she's got a lot of growing to do.

The upside to this is that she seems to be very down to earth in...

5.0 out of 5 stars Leaving Las Vegas, June 2, 2009

"Waking up in Vegas" is Katy Perry's latest, and it has her trademark humor. It's a bittersweet look at a fling in Vegas. In the video, she and her boyfriend enjoy the shows, win the $$$, bathe in the glamor... but the song ends with them losing all their money, going to a laundromat, and having to steal goodies off of room service trays. (There's even a Penn and Teller cameo) "Waking" is about awakening from self-indulgence. Considering the state of the economy, Perry's song is poignant and bittersweet.

The upside to this is that she seems to be very down to earth in interviews which I've seen on youtube so that's a plus.

The song is about "Waking Up In Vegas" and kinda being disoriented. Katy loses her fake I.D. and I think her "boyfriend" has lost the room key.

It's OK, but could be better. I prefer Thinking Of You which has substance or even I Kissed A Girl which is more addictive.

2.75 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Katy Has Glitter On Her Shoulders, & Dressed Up Like Elvis, May 29, 2009
This review is from: Waking Up In Vegas (MP3 Download)
For Katy Perry, over the top is just the tip of the iceberg, from her original/strange lyrics, to her outrageous outfits/stage presence, she's truly an original figure. It's this strange newness that turns you off at first, but eventually it'll overtake you i.e. Hot N' Cold. Waking Up In Vegas is lyrically original, has a great melody taking a building up approach, and the song is possibly even more catchy then any of her previous singles. "Shut up and put your money where your mouth is, that's what you get for waking up in Vegas. Get up and shake the glitter of your shoulders..." It's crazy...

Overall, this song should not stay in Vegas, and could be Perry's best effort thus far. Still not amazing, but good enough for your iPod.

5.0 out of 5 stars Katy keeps gettin' better!, February 19, 2009
This review is from: Waking Up In Vegas (MP3 Download)

I'm not going to lie- when I first heard Katy's song "I kissed a girl" I was like she is probably going to be a one hit wonder. Then, after hearing Hot N' Cold, I really enjoyed her music. "Waking Up in Vegas" is HOPEFULLY going to be her next single, because this song is a fun and rhythmical, which makes you want to listen to it over and over again. The cool part about this song is that it can appeal to almost any music lover-- whether or not you love pop, dance, or music that just sounds awesome!

2.0 out of 5 stars Woke Up In Vegas & Left, July 8, 2009
This review is from: Waking Up In Vegas (MP3 Download)
There honestly is no question about the lack of really good msuci. For Katy Perry whom had scored with I Kissed A Girl a year ago from her debut record, One Of The Boys, her latest single doesn't seem to shine any better. Waking Up in Vegas, the 4th single from that album doesn't make you feel as driven either. I really wasn't impressed with the song at all. While the beat might seem catchy, the strength of the song gets a bit tiring after awhile. Katy really needs to honestly find better material to make her music feel like the worth is all her own much more strong-felt. Hopefully, the next single she makes will make you feel like you're waking up in heaven rather thhan the loss of being in Las Vegas.

Song: D+

5.0 out of 5 stars Put Your $ Where Your Mouth Is!!!, January 28, 2009
This review is from: Waking Up In Vegas (MP3 Download)
This is an excellent, hedonistic, hilarious, anthemic, and wildly catchy song and it NEEDS to be released as the 4th single after "Thinking of You"! I've bought this incredible album twice but I will buy it again if this song gets a mainstream release. This album is the most satisfying ear candy to come along since Gwen, Ashlee, Kelly, and Avril released their albums in '04. Highly, HIGHLY recommended!!! And Katy is damn loveable too. (=
