Affirming our life as it is right now--no matter how difficult or joyful--D'Arcy guides with poetic insight from the depth of her own experience and reflections, offering an invitation (and challenge) to love, to trust, to be with, to let go. The chapter "Live With An Open Heart: Practice Love" is particularly exquisite. I will share "Waking Up To This Day" with men and women, of all ages. An excellent spiritual guide for our times, D'Arcy writes, "There is no way life is supposed to be. There is only life" (p 57). I am grateful for this book.

Format: Paperback
Waking Up To This Day offers inspirations and spiritual insights for daily living, from discussions of how to start each day anew and fresh based on 12-Step Program methods to how 'detours' in life have lasting impact and importance. A fine, simple addition to any spirituality shelf.

A short read, but really deserves more than one time through each chapter. The book builds on itself through each chapter until mindfulness of our surroundings, our lives, our loves and joys and our God become a habit. Our book group used this book and found it quite wonderful.
