Rihanna's Rockish R&B Dance Pop Blends!, August 16, 2009
This review is from: Wal*Mart Soundcheck Rihanna (DVD)
This is a Wal*Mart Exclusive featuring Rihanna performing live, plus an exclusive interview. As Rihanna has achieved much success and growth as an artist, the demand to know more about her increases. This DVD is a look into the heart and soul of Rihanna through her words, and through her live stage singing and dancing. The sound is not like her album songs as they include guitars and a more rock sound thus making it quite a diverse version of styles for her audiences.
The menu includes live performances of:
(1) Shut Up And Drive
(2) Umbrella
(3) Hate That I Love You
(4) Unfaithful
(5) Let me
*Interview Segment
The entire listening and viewing is pretty good although the rock sounds were not my kind of thing. Her voice gets lost at times with the audio, and instruments. For the number that stood out the most, "Unfaithful" would be the one. She sung from the heart, and I mean like she actually experienced it firsthand or related to it. "Umbrella" was quite nice too for it's choreography.
The Interview was a bit lacking in maturity as Rihanna answers childishly and not too appealing, at least from my viewpoint. First she mentions Mariah Carey as being her idol and then says Madonna is her more preferred choice. It just seemed very hard to reach her as she seemed a bit tense or stiff. Overall, this is her first talks in the public I imagine so she was just not as strong in her mark. Other fans might actually find that to be quite captivating and human. To actually have some flaws may be a good thing. Either way, this was nice for the die-hard fan. Audio wise, the sound needs checking, and video wise, Rihanna's voice needs to sound more powerful somehow. Rock ~n~ Roll lovers will definitely find this side to Rihanna appealing.
