4.0 out of 5 stars Wald Cruiser
I wasn't actually able to use this on my bike, but this handlebar is a really neat shape. Very simple & sleek with a little bit of style.

The problem is that these cannot accomodate the long brake levers found on older schwinns, nor can they accomodate a gripshift + brake setup. The straight part where your hands would go is too short for these setups...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good inexpensive bars, but...
I like the classic shape of these bars and the 4 inch rise means you won't have to extend your stem so high to have a good upright riding position. But it appears they are designed to go best with single speed and/or coaster brake bikes. The grip section is too short to fit a hand grip plus brake lever plus bar-mounted shifters (grip shift or thumb shift). I'm...

I still give it 4 stars cause they are really nice and I am going to have to find to make these work on one of my other bikes.

I'm disappointed about this, and my project city bike will have to use either a stem shifter or maybe end shifters. The Kalloy Tourist bar is another comparably-priced bar that may be better for my setup (but doesn't have the rise).

5.0 out of 5 stars I love these classy vintage handlebars, August 14, 2009
This review is from: Wald 867 Low-Rise Cruiser Bike Handlebar (20-Inches Wide, Chrome, 4-Inch Rise) (Sports)
A friend of mine in San Francisco turned me on to these when he replaced the drop bars on his vintage 80's Bianchi with these bars. Even though they have a an upright position on them, the sleek straight front bar and backward handlebars give them a fast look that makes them perfectly at home on a roadie. With vintage roadie bikes where the shifters are on the downtube the inability to put gear shifters on them doesn't cause any problem. The other thing I like about them is if you use a Wald Front basket the straight front end doesn't interfere with putting anything, (like say a dog!) in the basket. As opposed to mustache bars.

The other thing I've done is tilt them down a little (so the back of the handgrip is pointing downward a little rather than parallel with the ground). This way when you lean into them the angles matching my wrist position.

We ended up buying 3 sets of these for my commuter, my daughter's bike, and our trailer bike. Good width and nice sweep. I may pick up a few more for future projects.

I really like this handle bar for it's asthetics, particularly the chrome finish. It's made in the US and the price is outstanding on Amazon. I would definitely reorder for the next bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small and Classy Handlebar, May 25, 2011

This review is from: Wald 867 Low-Rise Cruiser Bike Handlebar (20-Inches Wide, Chrome, 4-Inch Rise) (Sports)
I used these on an old light road bike from the early '80s. I love the frame and just couldn't give it up, but my old back wouldn't let me use the drop bars anymore. I paired the bars with Oury mountain bike style soft rubber grips and old style (read, Dad's 3 speed) Dia Compe brake levers. If you don't have down tube shifters like I do, or don't have a fixed gear bike...look out. THERE IS NO EXTRA ROOM FOR SHIFT LEVERS. That being said, these bars are great for me and my bike's combination. The narrower width is an A+++ for me. They are well finished, surprisingly light weight and were shipped very quickly complete with tracking information. Oh, and I eventually saw them at a bike shop for three times the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Touring Handlebars, March 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wald 867 Low-Rise Cruiser Bike Handlebar (20-Inches Wide, Chrome, 4-Inch Rise) (Sports)
I used these handlebars to convert my mountain bike to a commuter. My original mountain bike handlebars required me to lean forward and it was bothering my lower back and neck. I was able to put my all-in-one brake/click shifters combos on the Wald 867 handlebars -- there was just enough space left for my hand grips. (I had to replace the brake and gear cables and housing as the originals were too short for the new longer handlebars.) The Wald 867 bars are a little narrow (20"). One thing I don't like about these handlebars is that the grip section goes straight back at 90 degrees and forces you to turn your wrists out in an awkward manner -- I think they would be more comfortable for your wrists if they swept out just a little.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet to install but arived EXACTLY as promised., February 18, 2011

I even set an alarm for the date my order was to arrive it went off an hour after UPS handed my box to me. Good price fast service accurate representation of product. I hope this solves some of my problem namely having to bend over to ride the bike I had major back surgery 3 level fusion bending over any amount is painful. As I stated I have yet to install but what can go wrong they are handlebars that allow you to sit upright. WALD 867 Low-Rise handlebars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Handle Bars, October 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wald 867 Low-Rise Cruiser Bike Handlebar (20-Inches Wide, Chrome, 4-Inch Rise) (Sports)
I have a ten speed bike that I transitioned into an indoor stationary bike and the handle bars of the ten speed was too low and too narrow. So I purchased a stem and handle bars which are working fine and giving me a more relaxing ride and by purchasing a brake cable the bike's brakes and gears are still working like new.
