4.0 out of 5 stars Big, solid basket for some serious haulin'!
Make sure you check the measurements -- this thing really is BIG! I would probably recommend one of the smaller Wald models for most people. But if you're serious about hauling a lot of stuff, this thing is great. I took home almost half a shopping cart full of groceries the other day. 3.0 out of 5 stars HUGE basket
I bought this basket for trips to the local library with my kids. Holy cow, it's huge! That's fabulous...but that also means it's heavy!!! Yikes. I can hardly manage to put it on without help.

In fact, I haven't even used it because I believe this bike basket truly is meant for what I call "old lady bikes." This type of bike is the one where it's meant for...

Make sure you check the measurements -- this thing really is BIG! I would probably recommend one of the smaller Wald models for most people. But if you're serious about hauling a lot of stuff, this thing is great. I took home almost half a shopping cart full of groceries the other day. Having this much room opens up so many possibilities for running errands where you may have otherwise driven a car. The design is very sturdy. Mounting it to the bike was a bit challenging (I'm not not mechanically inclined), but I did finally get it. I recommend keeping the screws somewhat loose until you are sure about how it will fit on the bike.

Shipping was very fast and the packaging was thorough but not excessive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wald Delivery Basket, July 21, 2007
Excellent product and very timely delivery. I had to modify it to fit my bike, since I have a very large framed comfort-type bike. I couldn't use just the standard mounting hardware that came with the basket. But after I figured out how to tie it into my bike's frame using extra-length mounting strut extensions (home-made from aluminum bracing), I fastened everything down and it works like a charm. I would recommend this product to anyone with a normal-sized bike frame or even with a large or extra-large bike frame and a willingness to tinker with the installation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Giant Bicycle Basket...great for carrying Scooter, my Shih Tzu, August 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A very big and sturdy basket! I put on Scooter's seat belt and attach it to a large carabineer and off we go ! A very high quality product and plenty of space for my 19 lb. Shih Tzu Scooter. Very easy to attach to my bike (my husband did it...haha). The only con was it wouldn't fit on my other bike that has a removable wheel...

5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality Giant, June 9, 2009

We own three of these Giant baskets. Two are mounted on the rear of our recumbent trikes and one traditionally mounted on the front of a Trek Comfort bike.

Wald baskets are unsurpassed for strength and quality construction. The braces and mounting hardware are exceptionally robust and built to last. If you need a huge, strong basket to carry bulky, heavy loads like books, groceries, newspapers, dogs or even cement blocks! --- This is it.

I bought this basket for trips to the local library with my kids. Holy cow, it's huge! That's fabulous...but that also means it's heavy!!! Yikes. I can hardly manage to put it on without help.

In fact, I haven't even used it because I believe this bike basket truly is meant for what I call "old lady bikes." This type of bike is the one where it's meant for leisurely ride...kind of like a Julie Andrews bicycle. The BMX and mountain bikes have handle bars that tilt toward the rider making the basket tilt back too. I cannot get the basket to work on my bike, but my husband thinks he can tinker around and rig it.

I wish I had bought the kind that goes on the back of the bike...like newspaper boys would use...but oh well. Hopefully I'll get to use this. Just remember...it's good quality but HEAVY.

5.0 out of 5 stars professional's choice, November 20, 2009
This review is from: Wald 157 Giant Delivery Front Handlebar Bike Basket (Misc.)
These have been, and will continue to be, the go to choice for the bike messenger looking to do some real cargo. I rocked one of these (ok, I went through a couple) for several years before switching to a CETMA rack. I'd also use it for grocery shopping; fits three full paper grocery bags side-by-side.

4.0 out of 5 stars The product itself is ideal for serious hauling, August 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ride my bike to work every day, thus I needed a basket big enough and durable enough to carry a briefcase and peripherals. This basket is big enough to accomplish the task and then some. Its made from solid metal, so it can really take some weight (which is exactly what I was looking for). I did, unfortunately, receive the product with parts missing (that's why I'm only endowing said product with four stars instead of the much coveted five). But Amazon replaced it quickly enough, at no extra charge, so no harm, no foul as far as I'm concerned.

My only complaint about the product is that attaching the legs to the actual bike is a bit of a chore. You'll need to line up a series of wholes in the legs perfectly. If you can't, then you have to adjust the upper carriage of the basket by disassembling and reassembling it (as many times as it takes to get it right). Once that's done, you have to secure a number of very tiny screws and nuts through the aforementioned wholes in the legs with needle nose pliers. If you don't have steady hands and a bit of patience, then suffice it to say this will not be an easy task for you.

If your one of those consumers that expects the product you buy to be ready to use right out of the box, then this product probably isn't for you. If on the other hand you want a quality, heavy-duty, and durable basket, and don't mind donating a bit of your time and energy to assemble it, then this is the one for you.
