This is the essential anchor to the bicycle that your rear rack will need to have a solid positioning on the back of your ride. It works beautifully once it's on..."once it's on" being the operative word!

I purchased a late-seventies English Racer (3 speed) to be my errand and basic bike for getting around the city. When I went to attach this to my rear rack, I found that there was no proper hole for me to attach through, and had to drill a completely new one! If you do not have access to a power drill, you may be in a bind!

I knocked off one star for the lack of proper hole, and another because I fail to understand why this is not automatically included hardware for the rear rack.

I will post a picture showing the location of the new hole soon.

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I was looking through tons of bike racks, too, and didn't have any trouble determining what this was. The only problem I found is that all the screws are the same size (short) so you need one long screw in order to attach to the bike frame itself. Very sturdy, well made. I found mine for $1.99 from Niagara Cycle Works, here on Amazon, but I can't find that listing any longer.

Also, this hardware does come included with the Wald #215 Bicycle Rack (though you're not given that info in the rack's listing). I bought this separately because I couldn't determine whether or not it was included with the rack. Good thing I did, because the bike I bought for my wife (Schwinn Ranger 24") was not compatible with the included hardware insofar as the attachment point on the bike frame was further away from the rack than it was supposed to have been. Since I had the extra hardware, thought, I simply bolted to two together to extend their reach and VOILA, perfect connection and even looks good.

Don't listen to the nay-sayers in these reviews. Their complaints aren't really even about this product for the most part.

I own a hybrid Trek bike, so with the oversize wheel, I had to take the rack up to my local bike shop and ask them to install this for me. The bracket that came with the rack didn't extend long enough to reach my bike frame. The directions were completely useless, which I was aware of from previous comments. All in all, the bike shop put it on in 5 minutes and I was happy.

This is a Excellent Bicycle Rack for what i did was i mounted a 2hp briggs & Stratton engine on it. This rack was very easy to mount and with the design it was easy to mount the briggs motor. My wife has a motor on her bike and with this Bike Rack there is no Vibration that's how sturdy and well designed this Bike Rack is.

The bolts that came in the pack are to short to install on a common Schwinn mountain bike. They need to be about 1/4 inch longer to be useful. They must have been designed for a bike with a really thin frame. They also don't include a bolt to mount to the brake support. A new set of nuts and bolts aren't expensive to purchase, its just annoying that I have to make an extra trip to the hardware store to get what should have come standard in the pack. The only piece that is of any use is the bracket that attaches the bike rack to the brake post...which should come standard.

This is a very nice, sturdy seeming rack. That said, the parts that were included were not the right parts. The screws were not the right type, and were not long enough, and the extension piece to connect the front of the rack to the frame was the wrong shape. Finally, even if the screws had been the right ones, there weren't enough of them. There were 3 when there are 4 spots that require screws.

I had to take my bike into one of the local bike shops to get it installed for an additional $15. No big deal, good outcome, but it didn't end up being QUITE as good a deal as before.

I ordered the basket and rear rack for two different bicycles. With the use and the bending of wald hardware for 215 bicycle rack assembly was dificult. One bike rack was connected to the brake mounting braclet on a old specialized bicycle. The trek connected to the seatpost binder bolt also with hardware bending. Also extra bolds are needed.I was able to adapt removed reflectors on to the rear of the basket. The product was made in the USA.Assembly instruction are not helpfull but some are on the web

I didn't actually buy this to use with a Wald 215 rack but this is one beefy hunk of metal. The rack that this holds is now the most stable one of my three and my other two are very securely attached already, so that's saying something.
