101 uses for this stuff...,
By L Grayson (ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Walden Farms Marshmallow Dip, 12-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
First of all, I do agree with the above reviewers who thought this wasn't a great fruit dip. Second, there's very little marshmallow flavor-this stuff is NOTHING like regular marshmallow fluff.
However, I still give this 5 stars, because it's got features you can't get anywhere else. The texture is smooth pudding (Grainy reviewer perhaps ate his past the expiration date?) and that's mainly how I use this. Because of the slightly sharp taste of the cellulose, this dip lends itself very well to making citrus puddings (just add about 1/4 cup lemon concentrate and stir, doesn't get any easier than that). I also use it to make cheesecake and other dessert recipes. To actually make a good fruit dip out of this, try mixing it with yogurt or cream cheese.

Nasty stuff,

I like some of the other Walden Farms products -- I gave their chocolate dip 4 stars -- but this one is not very good. I tried dipping different kinds of fruit into it, tried it in combination with the chocolate dip, and finally gave up and threw the rest of it away. The cellulose gel Walden Farms uses to give its sauces body seems to have a slight spicy/sour "bite" to it; it doesn't bother me in the chocolate dip or in most of their dressings, but here it ruins the flavor.

This was the most disgusting diet product I've tried. I love marshmallow dip, and this wasn't even close to tasting like it. It has a chemical taste, like you're eating spun plastic, and makes you actually scared to eat it. Why even bother eating it. I'll stick with fat free whipped topping -- at least it has flavor.

Great with Peanut Butter,

I eat this on Peanut Butter Toast for breakfast everyday and love it. I think it's a great product. As good as regular marshmallow dip? Probably not. But, if you want a hint of marshmallow with no calories in one serving. It's good stuff.

The worst stuff ever,
This review is from: Walden Farms Marshmallow Dip, 12-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I am a sugar free, fat free, low calorie junkie! I have probably tried and loved many low calorie products in the market, which is why I was so excited for calorie free marshmellow dip. I had planned on making low calorie smores, rice krispy treats and a great sugar free hot chocolate.
Well as soon as I opened the product the consistancy bothered me, it wasnt anywhere near gooey or marshmellow like. Then came the taste, it was like chemical plastic! I took one spoonful and immediatly felt like I wanted to be sick. The taste is horrible and the consistency is even worse! Skip this product until Walden farms can reformulate! (Their Fruit spreads and strawberry syrups are good though)

This stuff tastes like glue. There is no hint of marshmallow flavor in it at all. I am a person who never eats packaged or processed foods so my taste buds are different from when I was eating packaged things regularly in the past, now I can actually taste individual ingredients in foods like salt, pepper, spices. So, to me, this tasted like licking the bottom of a shoe or eating glue. Full of chemicals, no food taste to it at all. Now a year ago when I regularly ate processed foods my taste buds probably would have found this to not be so nasty...

I must be genetically able to taste a chemical in this product that the people who gave it stars can not.
This substance tastes like screaming death. The chocolate I could at least swallow, my body rejected this whole sale. "Walden Farms" is a lie. There was no farm even remotely involved in the production of this product. There is nothing in it that is food.

Good Tasting Sugar Free Dip/Topping - Recommended,

The Walden Farms Marshmallow Dip was a good find for me, but perhaps calling this "Marshmallow" was a mistake since it only slightly resembles marshmallow by looks and taste. It should be treated as a dessert dip/topping for dieters or diabetics. Being a Type 2 diabetic, I am always looking for low carb sweets that will not impact my blood sugar levels and this Dip/Topping has no impact at all.
I like the flavor and use it on other sugar free foods to round out the dish. This works well with sugar free chocolate ice cream and with peanut butter sandwiches. Recommended, if you set your expectations to match the reality that this is not really marshmallow. You might also want to try Chocolate Dip 12 oz. |
