5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoy this one
This is a great "A,B,C" book. It is sort of like "I spy with my little eye..." there are all sorts of things hidden and not so hidden in the pictures (which are just lovely to look at). my kids and I really enjoy this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars I is for Ignorance.
Is this a book about the heritage of people? Shame on you, Famke Zonneveld, for your ignorance. Please listen and educate yourself better. I am outraged with this outdated and continued attitude towards Native Americans. I am tired of seeing Native Americans portrayed as cartoons and logos. This dehumanizes and impersonalizes them. This makes it harder for children to...

This is a great book, I bought it for my toddlers to enjoy the alphabet and wow they never tire of it. Beautifully illustrated, I am going to recommend to all my mommy friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Book, January 31, 2010

We just received this book as a gift for our toddler. The letter-themed illustrations are lovely. We've been having fun discovering the letters together.

5.0 out of 5 stars waldorf alphabet book, March 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

my preschool children (3 and 4) have been very interested in the alphabet, self-initiated. they had started writing a few letters and were asking for more. i ordered this book for some ideas on presenting the letters and how they looked. i wanted to keep our "lessons" very informal for the time being, and still initiated by them. i looked at the book and liked it just fine and it did give me some ideas. however, they looked at the book too - and LOVE IT! not even any words but they ask for it for bedtime story! we'll be using this one for a while.

I was pleased to find this book and the other one I bought very easily and affordable, as my granddaughter is a teacher at a Waldorf school and she loved this present.

I am outraged with this outdated and continued attitude towards Native Americans. I am tired of seeing Native Americans portrayed as cartoons and logos. This dehumanizes and impersonalizes them. This makes it harder for children to relate to them as fellow human beings. Please edit your book and put out a new version with a different symbol for the letter I.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worthy of a single star; Waldorf can do better for its students, January 8, 2009
This review is from: Waldorf Alphabet Book (Paperback)
It may be beautiful, but it objectifies American Indians.

On the "I" page, there is an "Indian." American Indians are not animals, nor are we creatures of fantasy (the M page has mermaids).

As a professor in American Indian Studies, and as Native woman, mother, and former schoolteacher, I think this book should not be used with children.
