So: yeah: I am jaded: Mike is my cousin and helped inspire me to go into the music biz: but listen carefully to the violin solo in Walk Away Renee: thats his Dad playing: Harry Lookofsky:

this sound was so very new and inspired generations of musicians to think differently about the integration of classic instruments into rock music

Ever find yourself in a supermarket or perhaps a department store that has soft rock playing in the background and you hear a tune you know so well but the song title & band elude you?

This happened to me the other day as I listened to the soft melody of "Walk Away Renee", a classic '60's composition from the band "The Left Banke". Pianist/composer Michael Brown and groups' inclusion of beautiful chamber string arrangements provide for a most relaxingly two and a half minutes of mellow music. On my old 45 RPM disc, "Walk Away Renee" was the 'A' side with the equally classic "Pretty Ballerina" being the 'B' side.

As my old 45 is worn nearly groove-less, I'm ecstatic to find both find both of these beautiful songs available for download. For all fellow B-B's, the 99 cent price is really much cheaper than we paid for those darn 45's:)

I tried to buy this song by the Left Banke practically since the itunes store opened up. Could't get it and its still not here but I found it here. This is the original version before the 4 Tops recorded it and its better.

Call it what you will-quirky, hypnotic, groundbreaking- this song was not like any others. Another one-hit wonder song that is worth having.

This is a good song, have it on a record. Really wish Amazon would give the opportunity to purchase full CD-quality downloads rather than compressed MP3's. It's not so much that full CD-quality sounds better, but it gives more flexibility if I want to use other formats than MP3.

A stand-out song. A classic. Full of pining and longing, but also catchy and up-beat in it's own melancholy way. Gets better with each passing year.

This was one of the best songs to come out in the 60's. It has a very pretty tune and anyone, who is collecting oldies, should definitely have this one in their collection.
