DC Cooper is a Silent Force!,
By
This review is from: Walk the Earth (Audio CD)
DC Cooper the singer from Royal Hunt kills on this cd ( and the other Silent Force cd's ) The melodies, guitars and musicianship is excellent. The production is top quality, every nuance is heard, but the real thrill is DC Coopers singing. If your a fan of Power Metal bands and just plain Heavy Metal this cd is for you..worth the purchase.

Terrific melodic metal album,

This album follows a familiar script for melodic metal. It steps in the footprints made by bands like Gamma Ray, Savatage, Allen/Lande and even Dream Theater. The music is decent, but not groundbreaking, which is why I give it 4 stars, not 5, even though I enjoy it greatly. The solos are great, the rhythm guitars are strong, and the drumming/bass is solid as a rock. The album is very well produced. However, the biggest reason I enjoy it so much is DC Cooper's vocals. He's one of the best (if not THE best) out there. His voice is just perfect for this style of music. If you're into melodic metal, I think you'd like this album a great deal.

If you've seen my other reviews for this band, you will see that I hold them in high regard in the power metal genre & for good reason as once again Silent Force puts out another great release! I will say that this album didn't instantly hook me right away compared to the others, but it does start to really pick up from track 5 & on. Also, this sounds like Silent Force's most mature release to date & if they are able to continue making killer songs in this fashion then they can only flourish to bigger & better heights.

Now this is the Silent Force album I've been waiting for all these years,

Wow, this album took me entirely by surprise. I'm a huge DC Cooper fan (he's my absolute favorite vocalist), but just haven't loved these Silent Force albums. After the lackluster Worlds Apart I kind of lost interest in the band altogether. That's why I was so surprised when I finally got around to picking up the band's 2007 album Walk the Earth. This was the dynamic melodic metal album I had been waiting for since the band launched at the beginning of the decade. All the promise of matching a vocalist like DC Cooper with a guitarist of Alex Beyrodt's caliber was finally realized with this album.Just about every aspect of Silent Force's sound took a big step forward with Walk the Earth. Cooper and Beyrodt have always turned in great performances, but this is the first time I felt they were really on the same page. The liner notes don't list songwriting credits, but the songs on Walk the Earth feel more like collaborations. They're also smarter, tighter, and more focused on melody than previous Silent Force offerings. Pink Cream 69 mainman Dennis Ward is on hand as producer and mixer, which is obviously a major asset (I wish he and DC would collaborate on another DC Cooper solo album). "The King of Fools", "Blind Leading the Blind" and the excellent title track are my favorites, but there isn't a single song on Walk the Earth I'd consider filler (OK, maybe the Paradise Lost sounding "Goodbye My Ghost", and even that grows on you). That's not something I could say about other Silent Force albums. Walk the Earth is easily the best Silent Force album, and is one of the better melodic metal albums I've heard in recent years. I'd absolutely recommend it to fans of Jorn, Pink Cream 69, Vanden Plas, Pretty Maids, Starbreaker and Primal Fear. Edition Notes: Early versions of Walk the Earth come in a digipack and include a video clip of the band covering Judas Priest's "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" at the 2002 ProgPower USA festival. I was at that event, so this was a very cool addition for me. PS - Is Silent Force still active? DC's bit in the liner notes makes it sound like Walk the Earth is their final album. I hope that's not the case.

This is the fourth release by Silent Force, an international band consisting of four German instrumentalists and an American singer. They play melodic power metal, a style that is popular in Europe, but deserves to be heard more in the United States. This CD is a fine release, not quite as strong as their second, Infatuator, but still an impressive mix of riffs and melody. The songwriting is first class: all the tracks on this CD are engaging, and the CD sustains interest throughout the 60-minute running time. This band goes in for complex arrangements, so that overdubbed guitars and keyboards create a dense wall of sound. This CD would rate five stars, except that the sound engineering is not quite up to the same standards as the music.

man i love silent force. dc cooper is to me one of the best vocalist out there and no one can sing like him. some other greats are lance king and john west. and alexander beyroot(spelled wrong) is a killer guitarist. if you like guitarist like manni schmidt of grave digger and viktor smolski of rage then you will love alex's playing. any way on to the songs. like the last album worlds apart this cd is extremely catchy and mellodic and full of crunchy riffs. worlds apart is one of my 10 favorite cds of all time and i did not think they would ever be able to make another album as good as it. this cd is not as good as worlds apart but is dang close. this cd is a force of its own and a killer come back. silent force have the ability to be one of power metals mainstays and i hope they put out alot more albums. some awesome ballads on this cd and some killer anthems. this cd is very diverse and full of memorable songs that catch you from the first listen and that is what i love about these guys, if it is a silent force album then i know right then that it is going to be awesome. so check this out and if you do not own worlds apart then you better get it. any metallian that loves catchy choruses and screaming guitars will without doubt love this and all of silent forces albums, hell get all 4 of their cd's. i some times wonder why the name of the band is silent force, it is a cool name but when their cds are in my player their is nothing silent about it. your friend in metal brandon whitson, 25 of north carolina

Great cd, I can't put it down, I think that everyone around me wishes I would put it away, but that's how good this cd is. Even when it's not playing in my cd player, I'm replaying it in my head. I recommend this cd to anyone.
