4.0 out of 5 stars Flexible & Effective Workout!
I really enjoy Leslie Sansone's 2 Mile Walk video so decided to try her Walk off Weight video. I love it! The workout is divided into 3 sections plus a cool down at the end. The set is a living room with comfy couch and coffee table. Not lavish but I think the intent is to show you can do this in a small amount of space in your home. Behind Leslie is a window that is fun...

If you are a veteran of the Walk Away The Pounds 3-mile walk, you will have no problem completing this 4-mile walk. It is a do-able supplement to the Walk Away workouts, for days when you don't want to use weights and need a little more variety. If you're getting bored with the Walk Away workouts, you may want to give this a try.

4.0 out of 5 stars Flexible & Effective Workout!, February 18, 2001
This review is from: Walk Off Weight System: Weight Loss Walk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I really enjoy Leslie Sansone's 2 Mile Walk video so decided to try her Walk off Weight video. I love it! The workout is divided into 3 sections plus a cool down at the end. The set is a living room with comfy couch and coffee table. Not lavish but I think the intent is to show you can do this in a small amount of space in your home. Behind Leslie is a window that is fun to watch as one minute it is storming and the next its a calm sunny day! Leslie is the only exerciser in the first section. It is a nice slow 20 minute 1 mile walk perfect for a day when you are tired but want to get moving. The next 2 sections are each twenty minute 1 and 1/2 mile walks. Leslie leads several other exercisers with enthusiasm and the steps are simple to follow yet vary enough to keep the viewers attention. You can do 1 segment, 2 or all 3 depending on your mood and needs. I pop it in after dinner or lunch to get in a quick walk. The music is upbeat but not intrusive. If you are looking for a very low impact workout that offers flexiblity and you enjoy simple stepping movements I think you will enjoy this video!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Exercise Video, November 16, 2001

This review is from: Walk Off Weight System: Weight Loss Walk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I like several of Leslie Sansone's walking workout videos. From best to worst, here's how I rank the 5 I own:

2-MILE WALK -- 5 STARS. Her best video. Good pace, lots of variety. Not too hard for a beginner. It has a mileage gauge, which helps keep me going. (1996)

MIRACLE MILE -- 4½ STARS. A 1-mile walking workout in 15 minutes, plus a cool down and stretches. Great for those days when I haven't much time but I want to get some quick exercise in. Also good on days of cramps, if tired, etc. (1996)

WEIGHT LOSS WALK -- 3½ STARS. Has 3 20-minute segments of 1 mile, 1.5 miles, and 1.5 miles. Excellent for variety. Handy for those days when I want a different distance. Segments can be done alone or combined for a wide variety of distances -- up to 4 mies. A mix of familiar movements and different exercises, some of them a little goofy, some of them fun. I don't like the silent gaps between songs, but I recommend this exercise video. (1993)

Not recommended:
PLUS 40 WORKOUT -- 2 STARS. A 2-mile workout, not nearly as good as "2-MileWalk". Seems somewhat amateurish. Has silent gaps between songs. (1989)

WALK & FIRM -- 2 STARS. Leslie with hand weights doing safe and simple exercises. Unfortunately, I really can't get into it, and I've never finished the video. (1998)

Leslie's videos are hard enough but not too hard for people just getting back into exercise. When I use them daily (especially mornings) I find I'm much less hungry all day. I've lost 9 pounds in 3 weeks. I try to exercise daily but usually do so 4-6 times a week. I feel better, sleep better, and have better posture.

However, there are a few things that really date this DVD. Be aware that this is a re-released old workout from 1992. The music is very dated, "You Better Shop Around" and a pseudo-C&C Music Factory cool down. Leslie is also continually referring to using a VCR with the workout: "Fast forward to the cool down" or "if you didn't catch this step, rewind and do it again." The clothes and hair styles also really date this DVD, from the "big sock" look to the layered leotards.

There were a few inconsistencies in this workout that you just won't find in her more experienced recent releases. For example, she's not mirroring you. When she says "right, left" you see her doing HER right and HER left. It will throw off a beginning walker. Also, she refers to taking a heart rate during the warm up: "I'll remind you during the workout." She doesn't bring up heart rates again until the cool down. She also refers to a mysterious booklet, which I did not get in my DVD.

The moves themselves are more complicated and higher impact that her Walk Away workout. For example, she has you doing a box step, always starting from the right. That will put a fair amount of pressure on the knee because you are not alternating your leading leg. Another example is the cool down. You do many of the stretches from a wide squat position. After finishing four miles of walking, squatting and stretching is not my idea of a cool down!

While I really appreciate Leslie's Walk Away Workouts, I find this release to still need some tweaking (how about a make over?). I only use it occassionally, to throw some variety into my workouts. If you're bored, and looking for something else to try with Leslie, give this a go.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money or Time, September 3, 2002
By A Customer
I have Leslie's 2-mile and 3-mile Walks Away the Pounds DVDs. She uses the blue weighted balls. These are excellent workouts. I was extremely disappointed with her new one. First, it has a very 1980's "aerobics" feel to it. Leslie works out in a studio "home." She does NOT use weights. The music sounds like elevator variety and the "work out" is very light. Leslie employs old aerobics moves instead of her marching steps from the 2-mile and 3-mile walk. Also, she doesn't work out with the old gang from her studio that I enjoyed watching. Some the workouts are alone, and others are with a few other new people. I think Leslie should stick with the other format...that's what I was expecting. If you were expecting the same, then pass this one by. If you like cheesy, light workouts 1980s style...you can have mine.

This is NOT a new video...it's 10 years old and has been re-released by her old distributor. Avoid it! Stick to the Walk Away The Pounds videos instead!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a solid consistent workout, January 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Walk Off Weight System: Weight Loss Walk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
It starts out SO SLOW - and the production quality is poor. I did 25 minutes and was so bored that I had to turn it off. I am used to the pace of the 2 mile and 1-2-3 Super Fat Burner. This one is not good and would be a waste of money and time if you are used to the other tapes and/or just beyond a beginner level.

2.0 out of 5 stars You too can make a video!, June 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Walk Off Weight System: Weight Loss Walk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
That's what this tape proves. They didn't break the bank to make this one. What a lame set. And you'll need a warm-up from another video, because there is inadequate stretch of the leg muscles, especially calves.

The pace is much faster than it needs to be. The second segment is comical. The tape looks like it's on fast forward. She can't speak fast enough to describe the next routine. She actually says that the second segment has to move fast to get in the distance. Were they running out of tape?!

And talk about boring.

So, if you don't care about quality of production or sets, you can't stand learning any interesting steps, and you don't mind running around like a rabbit, this tape's for you!

2.0 out of 5 stars a disappointment from Leslie Sansone, March 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Walk Off Weight System: Weight Loss Walk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I've bought her 2-mile walk and loved it and decided to try this video. The production values are very, very low in this video. It looks like it was made in someone's basement. The camera angles are terrible; she'll tell you to move your arms, and you don't know what she's talking about since the camera is on a close-up of her legs.

The exercises themselves are boring and I found the first segment incredibly easy, although I am a beginning exerciser. The second and third segments are at a better pace.

If you want a walk video, buy Sansones' '2-Mile Walk' instead!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Variety and Fun, July 12, 2003

Okay, this video is not new. I am a big fan of Leslie Sansone and have several of her videos, some older ones and some newer ones. This is actually my favorite! I am amazed to see the negative reviews on this, but then I'm not up on the latest in workout fashion so I didn't notice the "big socks" and I don't care about hearing the latest music. I'm working out for fitness and fun and the music is of little importance to me. The Walk Off Weight requires a little more coordination maybe but I don't have much (I can't keep up with Richard Simmons) yet even I can manage and enjoy the fun steps in this video. I get tired of the Walk Away videos and keep coming back to this one. I bought the DVD version so I can travel with it and use it on my laptop when I don't have a VCR or DVD player available. This is a lively and fun workout. I have bought it for friends who were looking for a different workout and I recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid!, November 8, 2002
By A Customer
I DEFINITELY agree with the other reviews. I am a big fan of Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pound series - even though I've been exercising regularly since I was a teenager, I mostly run or use machines and find most workout videos to be too complicated to be able to follow. I exercise for my health but I am just not athletically gifted and am definitely have "two left feet." ANyhoo, these videos have to be from, oh, the late 1980s as others have mentioned and Leslie seems to hae just discovered her "walk" system. The workout still incorporates old style high impact aerobics steps and the pace is so frenetic that there is definitely no toning benefit. Definitely avoid this one!
