First a brief breakdown of the cd:

1. Dare You to Move - Switchfoot: Two words. OH MY! This song gets more special every time I hear it. I keep imagining a certain scene. The vocals are beautiful and the powerful background music draws you in.

2. Cry - Mandy Moore: This is by far her best song ever. Unless you live in a hole you've heard it before so I don't have to do much explaining. Every time I hear it I'm reminded of the on screen romance. This song is truly becoming a classic to me.

3. Someday We'll Know - Mandy Moore & Jonathan Foreman: A very nice duet. Their voices flow together perfectly. This should have been more publicized. Only since listening to the cd have I even heard of this song. That's a shame because of the beautiful harmony they create.

4. Dancin' In The Moonlight - Toploader: Great cover. You'll know this song once you hear it. It's so cute. Kinda hippy-ish. I like that. Nice back beats.

5. Learning To Breathe - Switchfoot: Very good song. Not the best one on here but great nonetheless. It's very romantic mixing the elements of strong background music and very powerful vocals. You'll find this song growing on you with every listen.

6. Only Hope - Mandy Moore: Beautiful song. This will remind you very much of the love in the movie. Mandy's beautiful voice really shines through here and unlike Britney she's not using her songs to promote her movie. This song isn't even on her cd. I wouldn't mind it anyway because of the talent she has.

7. It's Gonna Be Love - Mandy Moore: Another very pretty song of hers. Again, not the best on the cd but a great listen. In first listen it may seem very poppy but a closer analysis reveals just the opposite. She uses her voice and not mechines to back up her song. The harmonies are also beautiful. The voices blend together perfectly. If you close you eyes you'd never think it was a Mandy Moore song. It's very much the embodiment of her new style which I hope sticks around a long time.

8. You - Switchfoot: Another great song of theirs. The lead singers voice shines through even more with this one. His melancholy voice caries the song and you'll find yourself loving the soft violins in the background.

9. If You Believe - Rachael Lampa: Very Mandy-like voice. It's a great song. Very song background music. Definatelty worth a listen.

10. No One - Cold: The one song that really sticks out on this soundtrack. Very unlike all the rest but great anyway. The voice is so soft and deep you'll lose yourself in it and the music fits perfectly in the background.

11. So What Does It All Mean? - West, Gould & Fitzgerald: Very cool song. Shane West musical talent is just as good as his acting talent. I'll let you be surprised on this one.

12. Mother, We Just Can't Get Enough - New Radicals: Very cool song. Has a very U2-ish sound. I can't stop listening. Very unique song. Definately for the U2 lovers out there.

13. Only Hope - Switchfoot: This version of the song will leave you speechless. This band is the only one that could ever do the lyrics justice. It's so empowering it will leave you breathless.

I read the book first and cried. Then I saw the movie and cried more. I thought it was all over. Then I heard the CD. What are they trying to do to me? Mandy Moore's version from the movie is beautiful but wait till you hear Switchfoot. They capture the sentiment of the movie beautifully. Every time I hear "Cry" tears come to my eyes just thinking about the movie. Each song will have you reminiscing upon all your favorite parts of the movie. I can't wait until the DVD comes out. I'm buying a few because I know I'll wear it out. Whenever I feel in a sad mood I listen and think beautiful thoughts. You can't even call it pop. It's way to emotional to be something so unoriginally named. It's so much more. There is no world to describe the tracks but beautiful. So if you like beautiful music this cd is for you. It would have even the most hard-core listeners reaching for tissues. "I'll always remember..." indeed

Funny how teen pop-dom's most overlooked and underrated star may very well turn out to be its most enduring. Yeah, okay, I admit I was one of those who underestimated Mandy Moore, automatically lumping her together with others in her homogeneous genre without a second thought. It took a precious little film like "A Walk to Remember" to change my mind. Now, not only does she have my attention, but my complete respect and admiration. She has, in my mind, successfully distanced herself from the pack and has proven her potential for staying-power. I can rave at length about her performance in the movie, but I'm supposed to be reviewing the soundtrack, so I'll save it for the DVD. Suffice it to say, I am blown away by her all-around talent. The girl is nothing short of gifted -- a true artist.

I cannot stress enough how amazing and diverse this soundtrack is. There are absolutely no throw-away songs. It truly lives up to all the high praise people have given it. It is at its most effective if you've seen the movie because the scenes really do re-play in your mind as you listen. Moore performs four songs on the 13-song disc, and each showcases her angelic, mature voice and impressive vocal range. I'm sure everyone's heard "Cry" from the movie promos and whatnot. It remains one of my favorites on the CD. "Only Hope," a beautifully-written ballad (by Switchfoot's Jonathan Foreman), is heard in its entirety in the film. I loved Moore's take on it; backed only by piano, she sings it with such conviction and maturity that you forget she's only 17. "It's Gonna Be Love" is a catchy little number -- very easy on the ears. Then there's "Someday We'll Know," her amazing, incredible, marvelous duet with Foreman. This is what a duet should sound like. It's an up-beat sounding song, but there's this underlying sadness to it that makes your heart heavy with emotion. I found myself picturing the scene where it was played -- and I swear, it made me all teary-eyed.

Of course, there are other artists on the CD as well, most notably Switchfoot. Anyone who can write a song like "Only Hope" gets my attention. Switchfoot beautifully and hauntingly performs the original version of this song. Very nice selection. "Dare You to Move" and "You" are two other stand-out Switchfoot performances. And TopLoader's "Dancin' in the Moonlight" is always a fun listen. Even Shane West (who plays Landon opposite Moore's Jaime in the film) and his band contribute a track, a song called "So What Does It All Mean?". It's kinda loud and not really my type of music, but it could grow on me. Overall, the soundtrack is a resounding success, dare I say -- a masterpiece.

Ultimately, though, I think the soundtrack belongs to Mandy Moore, who someday I can see becoming a force to be reckoned with.

I thought I'd volunteer to answer a few questions some people may have about this album.

1."Is it really just a collection of CHRISTIAN pop ballads?"
Absolutely not. The lyrics of these songs contain no religious imagery or ideology. As a non-Christian, I was not offended in any way. Some people tend to confuse faith, spirituality, and strength with "preaching". But A Walk to Remember is about being true to oneself, whatever that may be. And the spirit of diversity is embraced in the range of music presented on the soundtrack.

2."Is it really just a collection of Christian POP BALLADS?"
No, no, no. Haven't you been listening? This album has folk, punk, and Broadway musical influences. The word to describe it is "inclusive."

3."I heard Shane West's band was on here?!" Relax, they are. It's track 11. Here are the true track listings:

Take a chance and buy this one. It will convince the most jaded critic that even pop stars can be true artists. Miss Moore has never sounded better.

One of the best movies has a soundtrack that actually makes you cry after seeing the movie and listening to the soundtrack. Everytime I hear "Dare You To Move", "You", "Cry", "Only Hope", and pretty much all the wonderful tracks by Mandy Moore, Switchfoot, Rachel Lampa, The New Radicals, Cold...I start to cry remembering the film and the novel and what happened. It's such a heart-warming film with a beautiful, meaningful soundtrack to accompany it. I won't explain all the tracks, but I will say you need to see the movie first to feel the music. All the songs on here are touching, sad, fun, and they will either make you cry, dance, or laugh. Enjoy, because this is one of the best films of the year with a novel and soundtrack that are AMAZING to accompany it. Trust me, this is a great soundtrack, I reccomend it. Movie soundtracks usually disappoint me, but this one is incredible. It runs the gamut as far as genres go, making you want to get up and dance or just crawl back under the covers and chill.

1) Dare You To Move: Switchfoot is an amazing band that got a lot of recognition on this album. This is a song from a great scene in the movie, and it has a very interesting sound.
2) Cry- I like the intro, but the rest is a little corny.
3) Someday We'll Know- I'm definitely not a huge Mandy Moore fan, but this song is fun. Jonathan Foreman definitely adds something.
4) Dancing In The Moonlight: Toploader has a very unique style. This is a great song that makes me want to dance!
5) Learning To Breathe: Mediocre, but still catchy.
6) Only Hope: Beautiful. That's the only way to describe it.
7) It's Gonna Be Love: Another sappy bubble gum song sung by Mandy. Too cheesy.
8) You: My favorite song on the album. Very moody, with beautiful lyrics. "I find peace when I'm confused, I find hope when I'm let down, not in me, in YOU."
9) If You Believe: A pretty good ballad with a little less cheese than the Mandy songs.
10) No One: Awesome rock song, although a little out of place on this soundtrack.
11) What Does It All Mean: Fun song with an upbeat tempo. Shane West has a very raw voice.
12) Mother, We Just Can't Get Enough: This song is so kickass. My second favorite.
13) Only Hope: This one is the same as the Mandy song, performed by Switchfoot. A great alternative to the sappier version.

You have to get this soundtrack! You definitely won't regret it!!!

A Walk To Remember Soundtrack is brilliant, but only for one reason: Switchfoot. Who is this group, and where did they come from? I've never even heard of them before, but their music is pure genius! Dare You To Move is probably the best song I'll hear all year, and the other Switchfoot songs are also quite amazing. If you haven't heard this group, do yourself a favor and check them out. I just ordered their most recent CD "Learning To Breathe," and I can't wait to hear more!

It is safe to say I was not disappointed by this cd. Although there are many various different types of music, it will suit almost all tastes. Mandy Moore is great for those times you're in a daydreaming, romantic mood, and Switchfoot is great for in the car, makes you want to get up and dance, and the words cause one to think. Also, Switchfoot's beat is very contageous... it is one I cannot help but like. I find myself unconsciously changing perfectly good songs to listen to theirs. It's a deep cd, and "Dare you to move" is an amazing song when you really listen. It will move you!!!

I watched the movie five times and kept it for 10 days. Needless to say, I bought it. Never more impressed with a story, acting, and music. The soundtrack is wonderful and so is Mandy Moore. Shane West's performance was exactly right. I can't believe the many faces of Mandy Moore. She has so many charming personnae, and all of them attractive. I expected teeny bopper stuff, but got mature, considered vocals of different kinds. All good. Grabbed the new Mandy CD. It's great. Getting the soundtrack now. Switchfoot was fantastic. Their beautiful song, Only Hope, was pure poetry. We're trying to get the sheet music. Again, Mandy's treatement was superb. I really liked the Switchfoot version just as well. Getting their CD, too. The music and movie were a great fit. It's nice to see something with high values so artfully done. It's almost an obsession to listen to over and over again. My heart aches from the impact of the tragedy and swells with the message of love. Well done!

Like many people when I first heared of Mandy Moore I thought to myself great another Britney Spears or any of those pop, blonde singers who like to show their skin more than their talent if there is any. Especially as someone who sings you kind of get critical about singers. When I saw "A Walk to Remember" not only did I cry because I loved the movie, but when I saw Mandy Moore perform "only hope" I got tears in my eyes. She played the part beautifuly and her voice was amazing. I wanted to sing like that. If anything get the soundtrack for that song. The music was beautiful, I even ordered the sheet music so I can play the song. The entrance of the song is the piano which starts off beautifuly. At the second verse the violins enter and it just completes it. The other songs on the soundtrack are also great. I bought the DVD and then I decided that I enjoyed the songs so was thinking of buying the soundtrack. The score in the movie was really good too another reason why you should get it. unless they are going to release it on a seperate cd which might be the case. Mandy Moore is great, switchfoot is great, the whole thing is great. Give Mandy Moore a chance, I promise you this one has talent and respects herself. She won't let you down.

I thought the movie was excellent. As soon as I got out of the theatre, I was wondering who sang all those great songs, and from which CD's they were from. The music is just as touching as the movie, and I definitely think this is a must-have of soundtracks.
