This book was a very draining read. I kept waiting for it to pick up but it was drawn out and not quite getting to a great story but was ok. The back and fourth from the main characters never seemed to quite come into there own. I was confused by the different love stories, that didn't quite resonate love.

EyeCU read!!!

Selected as EyeCU Reading & Social Network's May read, this is my first Michelle Lindo-Rice novel. Upon reading the synopsis of "Two friends... Two brothers... Two weddings...Too many secrets..." I was too hyped! But after struggling to get through layers of drawn out messiness, I now sing a different tune. "Walk a Straight Line" had all the fixings for a good storyline but unfortunately became unnecessarily wordy, repetitive, blotchy and redundant. "The Gina & Keith Show" was played out entirely too long to only have very little explosion!

I will say....With the exception of Gerry (who was sweet as pie) the author does great at making the reader evoke emotion towards the characters! By the end, you're sure to want to fight the entire gang for stupidity!

Colleen & Gina...... Self-righteous friend in love with the idea of being a wife & The Confused Playa Playa
Terrance.................Mama's Boy
Francine.................The Mother-In-Law FROM HELL
Michael & Keith......Dumb & Dumber
Karen.....................Super Cray-Cray
Eve.........................Baby mama drama

This book's plot went all over the place to me. The characters were indecisive, and did not make "grown-up" decisions, based on how affluent there were described to be.

The characters used complex words in their conversations, and then used simple idioms and simple slang.

Overall, I was expecting more.

Walk a Straight Line (On the Right Path) is the first book that I've read by author Michelle Lindo-Rice. The premise of the book was intriguing with two friends, two brothers, two weddings and two many secrets. While this work is Christian fiction I was not bombarded with endless biblical scriptures that I often find in other Christian books.

I welcomed the subtle dialogue that the author applied. That understated approach allowed me to use my imagination throughout the book. However there were many anticlimactic scenarios that left me wondering if Lindo-Rice would expound on those issues in the next edition. I look forward to seeing if she does.

When I think of Christian love stories I tend to think of pompous religious characters reciting scriptures and performing un-Godly deeds, but this book has changed my mindset. It was well developed with true to life characters and situations. I applaud Michelle Lindo-Rice for this book. I look forward to reading the sequel!

I enjoyed this book. It dealt with many real issues. Love. Lust, Betrayal, Marriage, infidelity, spousal abuse, child abuse and religion. It was not preachy but at the same time spoke of a God and Faith throughout the book. One underlying theme that resonated with me was that of Colleen, a newlywed becoming accustomed to her role as a minister's wife but still trying to hold on to her relationship with her childhood best friend Gina. If a relationship is important enough you will find a balance.
The book also showed how living through your child can have a very bad outcome. Francine was an overbearing and controlling mother. You should have your own identity outside of being a parent. I'm torn about the ending. Did Gina make the right decision? I can't wait to find out . In July I will be purchasing the next installment ,"My Steps are Ordered"

Collen & Gina have been best friends for years, more like sisters, who tell each other everything. That is until Collen marries a man after only 4 months of dating, Gina meets a good man at the wedding and their lives start to change. Collen sees her new husband in a different light & is dealing with the mother in law from hell, while Gina has fallen in love with her new boo's brother. Talk about a page turning, wondering what happens next story.

I have to really stand and clap my hands for Michelle Lindo Rice. This is your mothers cookie cutter Christian fiction. I loved that the characters were messy, messy, messy just like real like. This book contains a lot of first for me inclusive of the fact that this book was not filled with super saints and perfect Christians, they were people that somehow found Gods great grace. The tension and the push, pull and tug of the characters had my emotions stretched to the breaking point. I wanted to beat one of the characters with a belt dipped in baby oil. I highly recommend this book especially if you are looking for realism with your CF characters.
