In the male-dominated field of blues music, she's proven she can sling a guitar with the best of them - and she's shared the stage with BB King, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy and George Thorogood, to name a ... 3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but I liked her other stuff better January 20, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This CD is OK, but her earlier stuff is a little more stimulating. This sort of smacks of POP music, and AM radio. But it is highly enjoyable to listen to, just don't expect to much excitment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Crossover Potential June 6, 2001

Format:Audio CD
One of the best roots music albums I've ever heard. Quite an impressive voice. Compositions well chosen. Major talent. Remember this artist.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Shrill, Nasal Vocal Tone That Is Quite Unpleasant October 18, 2012
Format:Audio CD
I received this CD as a gift and took it along today to provide music for a 100-mile drive. I really didn't enjoy it. The backing music was tolerable, but Sue Foley's voice was not. Her tone, at least on this CD, is harsh, nasal, high pitched, and so brittle that it grated on my nerves. In addition, her tendency to sing a lot of flat notes made the listening experience less than pleasant.

Since it was the only CD I took on the trip, I listened to every track, continuously hoping it would get better.....but it didn't. I know she may have lots of fans, and maybe this early CD was just very poorly produced, but I strongly suggest that you listen to it before you buy it. You may find the vocal tracks to be acceptable, but I did not.

Update: Today I listened to another Sue Foley CD entitled Young Girl Blues. Backing music, tone, and production quality were infinitely better than the CD reviewed above. IMHO Young Girl Blues is worth getting and hearing; Walk in the Sun is not.

4.0 out of 5 stars John Hammond Fan December 25, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Being a longtime fan of the blues and John's,it' refreshing to listen to his early stuff. It's no wonder he's still around doing what he does best.
