Book Description

September 24, 1997
Walk Tall provides daily inspirational readings that celebrate cultural diversity and the accomplishments of people of color. The readings draw on the traditions of African-American, Latino, Native American and Asian-American communities. They are designed to help readers challenge internalized racism and to discover their own inner wisdom and strength.
Walk Tall also includes readings for holidays important to people of color, such as Kwanza, Cinco de Mayo, Chinese New Year, Mexican Independence Day, Juneteenth, and the birthdays of Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This book was previously available through a specialty house and has sold over 100,000 copies.

"An intriguing look at the commonalities and shared spirituality of People of Color. Brice has captured the true essence of our spiritual journey on earth."

—Ben Nighthorse Campbell, U.S. Senator
"Carleen Brice's book shows a great deal of wisdom and insight. It could be just the right prescription for those of us who have succumbed to the fears and anxieties now commonplace in too many of our days. Often all that's needed is a consoling word--this book has many."

—Dr. Albert C. Yates, president, Colorado State University

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is inspiring, compelling, original and comforting., August 27, 1999

This review is from: Walk Tall (Paperback)
This book has become a mainstay. I read it before I begin my meditation and when I need to lift my spirit and/or connect with my spirit. I have given it to numerous friends. It is the first inspirational book I have seen for people of color, and the quotes are original and compelling. Ms. Brice has tremendous insight into the human spirit and is an extremely sensitive, kind and ambitious young woman. I look forward to reading more by this talented author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, Clear & Inspiring, March 1, 2004
This review is from: Walk Tall (Paperback)
This is probably the best daily meditation book that I have found. I regularly use it in the treatment groups I lead. The daily meditations are thoughtful and can lead to great discussion. I really appreciate that these meditations embrace and celebrate a wide range of cultural backgrounds.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful multi-cultural gift!, July 6, 2004

I've had this book for a few years and love the format. You can use it as a daily "words of wisdom" guide by date or look up specific "subjects" using the index. I appreciate that I can give the book as a gift to Christian, Atheist, Buddhist, Islamic, Wiccan, or any religious tradition and the universal subjects still apply! I feel that this book along with Iyanla Vanzant's "FAITH IN THE VALLEY" (which is targeted more toward females) are books everyone should own and GIVE. SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO FEED YOURSELF WITH SOMETHING UPLIFTING!
