Book Description

Walk Your Cat: The Complete Guide is written for indoor cat owners who
want to give their cats access to the outdoors by taking them for walks on a
leash. While it is often believed that cats can’t be leash-trained, Walk Your
Cat shows that taking your cat for a walk does not have to be a drag. This
book is unique in that the authors have developed a thorough, easy-to-follow
approach to walking cats that is solidly grounded in the current scientific understanding of feline behavior. Following their approach, you can allow your
cats to enjoy a full range of natural behaviors while on walks, making their
lives richer and healthier.
But, Walk Your Cat is more than just a training guide. Getting to the heart
of feline behavior to show you how cats can be leash-trained, the book offers
readers a new window into the inner lives of their cats―as well as insights into
the important and natural role that walks on a leash have to play in the life of
the modern indoor cat.

5.0 out of 5 stars The cat's pajamas! December 3, 2008
Format:Paperback
Walking a cat always seemed impossible to me, until I read this book. Now I'm convinced it can definitely be done--and that it also makes life much more enjoyable for indoor cats. (I love all the info the authors include about feline psychology and body language, too. Fascinating stuff!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Walk your Cat March 15, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've been walking three cats for about 6 years now and got this book to see if I could learn anything more. It was a very thoughtful book. I found that I did learn a few things and believe anyone can walk their cat no matter what the age. I would recommend it to those that worry about letting their cat outdoors alone. I walk mine for 25 minutes every morning and night just around the yard. Gives me a lot of peace knowing that they are safe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful for beginner to intermediate March 28, 2009
By Iris
Format:Paperback
This guide gave me really good direction and a place to start in teaching my cat to walk on a lead. It walks you through the different steps of training from start to finish, and brings up all the challenges you're likely to have. There's a lot about how cats think, which is great - it's the basis for any kind of training. Now I've always had cats, done a little training, and read training books, so I was therefore able to quite easily grasp the authors' concepts.

I think the ideas are very well explained for those just beginning in training, and there's more than enough info for intermediate trainers who just need a few guidelines and direction.

Besides, their ideas are working - my cat is already doing quite well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! January 22, 2010
By Cat Mom
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am proud to report that it CAN be done! I can now successfully walk my two indoor kitties. One LOVES it and gets his leash and harness and drags it to the door to go. The other loved it while it was warm, but does NOT want to be outside now. It is not too hard to walk the two of them because the siamese listens and follows verbal commands. One thing: I had to switch from a regular harness to a PET MET walking jacket because my boy cat could wrangle out of his harness. (If I am walking two, I can't always get to the side of each of them.) All in all a GREAT Book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Believe it! February 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
What a great resource. I walk my cat daily when weather permits. He sits by the door "asking" to go out. I seriously believe any indoor car will quickly learn to walk on a lead. My cat is a rescue & he trained to a lead at age 10 years. One important caution...do not use a collar when walking your cat...only use a harness. A cat can easily break its neck when suddenly pulling on a lead. Read this book and love your cat enough to share the great outdoors with him. He'll thank you, believe me & the author. Great book, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A peek into your cat's mind! February 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book not only taught me and my cat how to enjoy the outdoors together, but gave a lot of insight into the workings of a cat's mind. My cat now fetches his harness and leash for walks and no longer tries to dart out the door every time it is opened. Now if the author would just write about toilet training the cat!! ;)
