4.0 out of 5 stars nice sturdy product
This is nice and sturdy. It wasn't to hard to put together, and I did it by myself. The only thing that was a bit tricky were the shelves in the doors. I kept getting them backwards.

To be fair, it is worth the $199 I paid, but there are a few issues. This is nice and sturdy. It wasn't to hard to put together, and I did it by myself. The only thing that was a bit tricky were the shelves in the doors. I kept getting them backwards.

The only aspects that I was not 100% happy with were the fact that the handles were made of plastic and most of the holes that were drilled for the door hinge screws were drilled to large in my opinion. I also wish that glued in wooden pegs are not all that hold on the feet.

For the screws, I ended up putting a drop of glue onto the holes and then screwing in the screws. I have yet to add my DVD's yet, but I think it will be ok.

One last thing to be aware of is that you will only have just enough wooden pegs. I broke one, and luckily enough I had some in my garage to use instead.

Over all, I think, for the sale price, I would definitely recommend this. For the full price I would not recommend it. But I do love the way it looks and it fits my dark wood and semi-retro decor. I probably will replace the handles for metal ones. Over all, not a bad product to have delivered right to your door.

To be fair, it is worth the $199 I paid, but there are a few issues. From the first assembly instruction that requires you to attach 3 pieces using only glued dowels, while giving you no way to keep those pieces stable, to the the attachment of internal structure to the top by lifting the internal pieces and lowering them onto the top, which would require two people to have a remote chance of success, are far less than satisfactory. BTW, by leaving the internal structure on the floor and sliding the top into place, it can be done by one person.

The space provided for your cable/satellite box, disc player and home theater is only 18.25 inches wide. This is barely enough for electronic equipment with ventilation openings on the side to get adequate air flow. Also, the depth does not permit you to move your electronics fully into the unit because the 4 inch circular cutout for cables does nothing to take the length of the plugs into consideration. My suggestion would be to take an x-acto knife and make cutouts to allow the plugs to protrude out the back of the unit.

While the construction is sturdy enough, the ratio of the units depth to its height, gives it a slight tendency to rock slightly if on a padded carpet floor. With the addition to a large flat screen TV on top, this can be a little unnerving. One can only hope that in time, the carpet and padding will compress from the weight so that this problem will abate.

The media doors on each side open in such a way as to make placing any other furniture within 8 inches, or so a problem if you want to be able to open them to a usable amount.

Other than that, the materials are high quality and the appearance of the console is quite nice.

4.0 out of 5 stars great directions, February 2, 2009
This was the best labled furniture that I have put together in a long while, all the hardware was individually bagged and marked, as was every piece of the console. If you followed the directions, you had a very easy time of putting it together. The only drawbacks I found are the plastic handles...and the feet are glued on. I hope it holds up well. It is being used in a youth center.

3.0 out of 5 stars good for price but needs improvement, January 15, 2011
This review is from: Walker Edison 60-Inch Jamestown Wood TV Console, Brown (Kitchen)
the stand itself is awesome. BUT........
the door hinges WILL NOT hold up to a full rack of dvds.
ive had mine for about a month and the door hinges are actually opening up and allowing the door to sag so bad that they drag on the stand. the hinges are already maxed out and cannot be adjusted to correct this. ive only ever had dvds in this so i know for a fact it will not hold up to vhs tapes. the door with dvds in it will weigh 28 lbs. these hinges are rated for way less than that. so with that said....
its a good product for the price but needs some design corrections.

4.0 out of 5 stars higher quality than Walmart, December 27, 2010

We are happy with this TV stand. I was able to put all of our DVD's in it and the shelves work for our ps3, dish receiver and speakers. I like the color. My husband put it together without too much complaining. I wish it was a bit more solid. But for the price, it is alright. I like the height for our TV and ps3. It got some scratches but my husband used pledge on it and they came right off. I really love the fact that all of our dvds our hidden in the shelves. The kids can open them and find their moves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Walker Edison television console, October 4, 2010

This review is from: Walker Edison 60-Inch Jamestown Wood TV Console, Brown (Kitchen)
This television console works perfectly for my 55 inch television, and the wood looks wonderful. It is sturdy, and the brown wood is a rich color. The console, not only made my television look a thousand times better, it also is nice decor for the home.

I did not want a product that would be too difficult to assemble, due to time restraints. The console came with great directions. It was step by step, and not confusing at all. It did take me three hours to assemble, but I did not mind, since the directions were the easiest I have ever read. Anyone can assemble it.

For the price, it is hard to find a better deal. Plus, ordering it through amazon, meant I did not have to worry about how I was going to get a big box home.

TV stand arrived in great condition and was easy to put together. We are very pleased with the amount of storage space on both sides of the stand where we can store many of our DVD's & PS3 games.Would highly recommend this stand to anyone needing one. Switched the plastic handel's for nicer ones but this was an easy fix.

This entertainment center is nice looking but when we put it together, we noticed that the top had cracked. We are going to contact the company and see if they will do anything for us.

Product is just as it was described. I put it together by myself with limited space in about one and a half hours. Two people would have made the assembly easier. Doors can be difficult to adjust slightly after adding weight of movies in them. Nice strong, sturdy design.
