The Walker Edison Sunset bed frame hoists a standard twin-sized mattress 55 inches above the floor, leaving room for a second twin bed, a desk, or a dresser. Fun for kids and adults alike, the bed frame’s simple design suits most bedroom décor. A sleek black-powder coat finish endows the sturdy steel bed frame. With a maximum weight capacity of 250 pounds, the bed employs 22 tubular slats to support the mattress. Integrated ladders on both ends of the frame allow one to climb up, while 15-inch high guardrails provide a buffer on all sides to keep the occupant from falling out of bed. To guarantee adequate guardrail protection, Walker Edison advises using a mattress with a 9-inch thickness or less. The bed frame has been tested to ensure that it meets the latest safety standards, and two L brackets come with the frame for bolting the bed to a wall. If adding a second bed to create a bunk bed, use a bed frame without a headboard or footboard or place the second twin mattress and box spring directly on the floor to fit below the elevated mattress. The second bed might also be placed perpendicular to the upper bed for a better fit. For comfort, the user may opt to add padding to the ladder rungs. The bed frame necessitates home assembly and comes with necessary hardware, tools, and instructions. Mattress and bedding are not included with the loft bed. I bought this bed for my daughter who is a little over 6. She shares a room with her brother and the 2 twin beds made the already tiny room ridicules to navigate so being able to shove one bed under another seemed like the perfect solution. I wanted the loft bed so that when they no longer want to share a room(they are sharing because they want to) I can take out his bed and my daughter will have a place for a desk or whatever underneath.
The bed came in the manufacturers box. The box came a little damaged but all the contents were fine. Beware if you don't have help to carry the box... it was a very long box and weighed 84 lbs according to the shipping label. It took both my husband and I to maneuver it upstairs mainly because it was so long. My daughter and I (30 year old woman) put the bed together by ourselves. It took an hour and a half or so. It was very easy and the directions made complete sense. I would recommend 2 people to put it together because of the really long pieces. My daughter was the pieces holder so I could screw things together. Most of it can be assembled flat on the floor. They provide 2 allen wrenches which are the only tools needed for assembly. The small parts were very well packaged and it came with enough pieces. The bed itself is very sturdy. It does wiggle a bit but not too much. I'm sure the wiggle is mostly because the bed is on "stilts". It in no way seems dangerous. It did come with 2 parts that were not explained but they seem to be pieces to bolt the bed to the wall. If I thought that was necessary I would have called the company to ask about them but it does not. The finish is excellent. Not too easy to scratch but I did manage to do some surface scratches while putting it together. The bed comes with 22 tubular metal slats for the mattress to sit on, very sturdy! Pay attention to the mattress thickness limit (I think it is 9"). Our mattress is 10". The thicker the mattress, the shorter the guardrail that keeps your child from falling out! That said, there is still 5" of rail above her mattress I feel comfortable with that. From the floor to the bottom of the mattress platform is 55.5" so add on the thickness of your mattress and that is about how high off the floor your child will be. In my opinion, it is almost too high but I'm getting used to it. The only bad thing I have to say about the bed is that the ladder is very tough on feet! The rungs are too narrow and they are round. In one of the reviews for the same bed with a different configuration someone suggested using water pipe insulation to pad the rung. They cut the insulation to fit and wrapped it with duct tape to hold it on. EXCELLENT idea. I put double stick tape on the rungs, covered the insulation with some hot pink pleather fabric (to make it cuter) then just slipped it over. Perfect. (if you want more advice check out other reviews for the same bed but a different configuration because mine is the first review for this loft bed)

I really like the space this created in my room, and now it looks pretty put together and cozy. :)
The only complaint is if your a tall guy, your feet may touch the end of the railing (I'm like 5'11 and 6). Granted, it's fine if you sleep on your side - or spread your legs apart. A sliding component would've been nice so it's easier to climb into and out of bed, but you get use to it. I like it.

Okay this isn't perfect but what do you expect for $200? Sure $700 will get you something easier to get into but this is pretty sturdy and works. The worst part about putting this together was the clips for the rods that go under the mattress. They are WAY too difficult to put in (and annoying). That alone knocks off a star. Otherwise it's decent. The stairs hurt my feet a little but it's fine for kids; a more square/less rounded rung system would be nice for little more cost. It's quite tall and a pretty good buy. The design looks better than it functions but again kids are tolerant and this will hold up to 300lbs which is one of the better design points.
