This review is from: Walkin the Floor (Audio CD)
I head 2 T-Bone Singleton songs on Pandora radio and was immediately grabbed by his originality, intensely soulful vocals, blazing guitar work, and solid compositions. Those were "Let me be your man", which is a fast shuffle, and "Tryna Get Along", which is a slow blues about a cheating man.

Recorded on the UK label called JSP, this record brought memories of Byther Smith's album called "Addressing the Nation with the Blues", also recorded on JSP. The sound is absolutely amazing, so clear and warm and rich - kind of like something you'd hear live. On a home theater system, the record feels like you've got T-Bone playing and singing right in your living room.

Most if not all compositions are T-Bone originals, and he's from either Mississippi or Louisiana - I cannot recall right now. His blues totally reflect the Southern flavor and certainly bring the intensity and the urban grit, as well as strong gospel influences, to the audience.

The CD opens with a jazzy blues shuffle, called Sunset Blues. There are a few fast boogie numbers on the CD which get things jumping with real enthusiasm and passion. There are about 3 or 4 slow blues numbers, like "You're Gonna Make Me Cry" and "Tryna Get Along", and they are intense and include juicy guitar work that cooks things to perfection.

Sure you probably have never heard of T-Bone Singleton, but I so wish he could put out another few CDs because the man has great talent and skill. If Tom Principato offers the more modern twist on blues-rock and includes a stronger rock than gospel influence, T-Bone harks back to the delta-flavored blues of older days and puts a stronger influence of gospel than rock into his blues.

If you like Albert King, Byther Smith, and/or Son Seals, you will certainly enjoy T-Bone Singleton's "Walkin' the Floor" - it stays in my CD player for a while before I decide to rotate to something else.
