Book Description

After escaping from an abusive marriage and lonely childhood, Chloe Peebles inherits a New Age bookstore in the Spiritualist community of Cassadaga, FL. This is a town where people make their living talking to spirits. Some of the residents have reincarnated from the days of the Salem Witch Trials and do not wish Chloe well. She doesn't know who to trust. What about Michael Romano, the sexy Italian artist who is romancing her, or Rev. Zach Taylor, the pastor of the church who is an intimidating character with a past?

The psychic reading Chloe receives sends her on a trip to confirm suspicions of her ties to the Salem Witch Trials. Mystery surrounds the phenomena occurring in the bookstore, the spirit watching Chloe and the murder on Halloween after someone attempts to kill Chloe. You won't know the answers until the hurricane strikes!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Psychic Read September 27, 2012
By Lisa N.
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Elizabeth Owen's first book provides a look into the psychic/reincarnation world. Primary character Chloe Peebles abilities are being keenly developed after she moves to Cassadaga, FL to take over a bookstore. It is a fun story line with some interesting twists and turns. My only constructive criticism would be that sometimes the storylines branched off and were hard to follow and the climax of the story could have been completed in many less chapters. All in all it was a good romantic suspense read and I would recommend to those readers who like that psychic genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thriller with a spiritual spin April 1, 2012
By Selene
I'm a fan of mysteries AND metaphysics, and I'm especially a fan of the spiritual town at the center of Florida--Cassadaga. What a treat to read a book that combines both! The Cassadaga setting and characters are fictionalized just enough to make sure everyone knows it IS fiction, but many of the true spiritual and philosophical aspects of Cassadaga are interspersed throughout the tale and give a good idea what Cassadaga is like. Throwing in romance, a dead body, and a hurricane make it a thrilling read. I can't wait for the sequel, Dancing In The Sun!

3.0 out of 5 stars Story had potential February 25, 2012

Walking Behind the Moon
This book had potential but there were too many story lines. The book was too short to cover four different story lines. Therefore the characters and their relationships were just skimmed over. And the different stories were like an outline. It felt like the story line was an after thought to the history lesson.

Elizabeth (known as Janie by her friends) Owens is a well-known psychic and psychic artist in Cassadaga, Florida. She puts a lot of intrigue, action and drama in her first novel, "Walking Behind the Moon." The story line moves crisply with well-drawn characters, scenery, and dialogue. The plot has many twists and turns with the ending being a complete surprise to the reader. Mrs. Owens is very descriptive in her words such as "the romance between Chloe (the main character) and Michael continued to burst as colorfully as the autumn leaves that were highlighting the trees." She also describes characters well in flashbacks they have to their childhood. This suspense thriller is interspersed with paranormal activity with ghosts, past life reviews, and episodes of extra sensory perception. The author uses her creative talents well in the narration of this novel. Barbara Fifield, author of "Lucifer Rising."

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm a believer! January 17, 2013
I bought the first two books when I met the author because I only live an hour from Cassadaga. I used to have a friend who lived there so the streets and hotel were familiar (and the huge potholes!) I was glad I had both books because I didn't want to stop when the first book ended! My parents were psychics and I've recalled several past lives that helped me better understand a current situation or why I reacted to a person when I just met them. Very healing for me. My life was also saved by a force that pushed me out of harm's way - twice! I'm a believer! I really enjoyed the books because I can identify with the psychic "feelings," which I've learned to listen to. I recommend you read the next books too. They just get better and better.

4.0 out of 5 stars First Book in a Promising Series May 6, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Interesting story, I enjoyed reading this first book in a promising series. I liked the paranormal aspect, it intrigued me. The characters could have been fleshed out a bit more - I'm hoping to learn more about them in the other books in this series and I am hoping that Chloe's gifts will be explored more fully, we've just been given a glimpse and I am eager to learn more.
I just finished the second book - it had some serious formatting/editing issues that I hope will be resolved - and now I am just about to start another one because on first glance it looks to be okay but more because now I am invested in what's going on in Cassadaga.

Elizabeth has a gift for telling a story that holds your interest from the minute you read the first page to the very last page. Her story invokes a wide range of intense emotions form suspenseful anticipation to romantic bliss. I couldn't put it down once I started reading . Can't wait to read the next book in her series. She definitely left me wanting more! I found this to be very entertaining and worth the read. Great job!

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor characters, romanticizes rundown little town January 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've been to Cassadaga. It's worth a couple hours of your time, but it's not the cool place Owens would have us believe. As to the book, it's stilted, with poor characterization and little or no grasp of imagery. Plot is so-so.
