5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing series.
Picked up issue one and fell in love with the art instantly. Although the artist changes after the first volume, the storyline is too far under your skin by that point. Basically keeps going after all the other zombie movies stop. Can't wait for more...

4.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for zombie fans, March 31, 2006
This review is from: Walking Dead, Vols. 1-4 [Amazon.com Exclusive] (Paperback)
In the introduction of the first collected volume, Kirkman discusses the idea behind the series - it is so simple and obvious that all other comic creators who are fans of the zombie genre (and yes - zombie have a genre all their own) should have slapped their foreheads when they read it.
We enjoy the zombie movies - but the best part is lost when the movie ends:
What happens next?

This series attempts to answer the question.

The first couple of arcs lack great writing and artwork - its alright, but nothing brilliant or original - but it is improving, both the writer and the artist (a fellow I used to feel severly handicapped the X-Files comics) are greatly improving with each installation.
With the third collection they are flying high - and I'm more anxious to see the series continue with every new issue.

There have been a couple of missteps - but for the most part I feel that Mr. Kirkman is truly living up to his intentions to give the zombie fan what they have always wanted.

If you thought holing up in a mall was promising - wait until you get to prison!

This review is from: Walking Dead, Vols. 1-4 [Amazon.com Exclusive] (Paperback)
I love this book! Its been awhile since I picked up a book that had me running to the store and picking up any new existing issue! I crave "Walking Dead" like zombies crave brains and fat kids crave cake... Kirkman and posse have done an excellent job and have a hungry fan impatiently waiting!

4.0 out of 5 stars Zombies Rock!, March 16, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Walking Dead, Vols. 1-4 [Amazon.com Exclusive] (Paperback)
This is not your typical Zombie horror story. It is more a story of survival and what one needs to do in order to survive. It is probably one of the best comics I have read in a long time. It is definitely the best zombie comic out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Zombie Read, May 12, 2006
This review is from: Walking Dead, Vols. 1-4 [Amazon.com Exclusive] (Paperback)
There are a lot of Zombie books and mags around, but most of it is not that good. This series makes up some of the better of the zombie genre. Portions of the story are not particularly original but the various arcs are both interesting and original. The details of the lives of the few survivors, how they deal with the zombies and each other make for a very good read. I am really interested in picking up volume 5 when it finally comes out.
