Biography

Link Wray may never get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but his contribution to the language of rockin' guitar would still be a major one, even if he had never walked into another studio after cutting "Rumble." Quite simply, Link Wray invented the power chord, the major modus operandi of modern rock guitarists. Listen to any of the tracks he recorded between that landmark instrumental in 1958… Read more in Amazon's Link Wray Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Live Indeed!!!, September 30, 2003

foomum (Swansea,Wales,U.K.) - See all my reviews
If this was a new release by the latest grunge/rock press darlings,it would be raved about. It sounds as contemparary as anything put out by bands a quarter the age of Link Wray and, unlike most of the official live releases by most artists, sounds to me just what it purports to be,Link Wray recorded absolutely live.I saw Link and his band on this U.K. tour, caught them in Newport,Wales, just a few nights before these shows were recorded, and this disc brought it all back. You do not get a lot of stage talk with Link Wray,he walks on,plugs in and he's away. These recordings snarl, sneer, rock and roll all at the same time, they show more of the true rock'n roll/punk spirit than anything I've heard in years and they are pure Link Wray.WHY IS THIS MAN NOT A SUPERSTAR???

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a great live set of Link's hits!, April 16, 1999
By A Customer
From the first buzzed out chords of "Walking Down a Street Called Love" through the end of the second helping of the classic "Rumble", this album is almost pure wild and wooly raunch. Almost because of two ballads, 14 and 17, and "Fire" which is kinda long and repetitive. But the remaining 15 tracks are WELL worth the price of admission. A must buy!
