Missing Persons was a band that almost made it big in the early `80s but couldn't quite get over the hump. Their first album had no fewer than four singles that cracked Billboard's Hot 100 chart but their two biggest successes both peaked at number 42 so they fell just short of making "top 40" status. The group definitely had a quirky style that practically screamed "New Wave" from the rooftops.

"Walking In L.A." was their third single and while it didn't do particularly well on the pop charts, it did get pretty heavy airplay on album-oriented rock stations. As one might expect from the title, it did very well in Southern California and was played fairly heavily here. The lyrics do a nice job of lampooning the love affair the region has with cars. The music is definitely heavy on beat and catchy riffs. While Dale Bozzio's voice has a very `80s sound, she fits the music perfectly. Overall, this song sounds a bit dated these days, but it's still fun to listen to. Highly recommended for fans of new wave music or those looking for some `80s nostalgia.
