I miraculously found this 2 weeks before release. I first popped it in the car CD player, and it was fun and nice on the scan-through. Listened on the computer and through headphones a couple times, and a few tracks really stood out (namely "Surrender"!). But today, I played it through the hi-fi system, loud, and it's been on repeat all day long.

Solid and refreshing record all the way through. For a longtime Adriana fan like me, the first impression was a bit "more of the same," but it absolutely stands out and shows Adriana in a new light. Do yourself a favor and play it on a real system--leave the computer speakers/earbuds for those mainstream pop singers!

First I concur with the sentiments in the prior reviews. This cd took me by surprise. I've had it for a few months - purchased back in November and on first listen thought it was pleasant enough but nothing to get excited about and so I put it away for a while. Boy, was I wrong! This is my springtime joint. 'Walking with the Night' is a project that does not reveal all of its charms on first glance but really needs to be found/investigated/savored. There are many gates through which one can enter into an appreciation of this project - Adriana's voice is immaculate, lush and soulful, bringing to mind Jean Carne more than Minnie Ripperton. She has an effortless and lyrical delivery that can send you off dreaming of gentle rolling seas. You can also journey through the wonderful production and arrangements - organic instrumentation, great playing, adult melodies. This is real music. Ultimately though it is the songs that do it -- this is real soul music of the classic variety. The songs paint real pictures and lead you into the mind of this talented woman. Not a daft track on offer - just real musicianship and artistry. A real treasure - if you are someone interested in real soul music then buy on sight. I can see this being a rare classic in the coming years going for 4 or 5 times the price that's being asked today. Get it while you can!

Wonderful and refreshing album. I totally agree with the first review. There's more live instruments on this album and her voice just sounds sublime so please, when you're having your cookouts this summer, bless the entire block by playing this album. I guarantee that no one will sit down. BUY THE ALBUM!!!!
