The Walking Stick,
This review is from: The Walking Stick (Hardcover)
The story is from Vietnam and I enjoyed reading it to my daughter Kennedy. However it lacked a plot-problem, but I could infer that the grandfather had to leave because of the war. Yet, I was only able to do so because I knew the history of the war.
