Awesome CD, Guano Apes does it again!,
By Natasha Olofsson (Sarasota, FL USA) - See all my reviews

I've been a fan of Guano Apes for several years. This CD is at least as good as the first CD, and completely blows the last CD 'don't call me names' out of the water. If you are looking for a powerful true rock CD with amazing female vocals then Sandra and Guano Apes are just the band for you. You will not regret buying this disk. Guano Apes does Germany proud once again, and proves they are better than all the rock bands coming out of the US currently!

They did it again,

I went the hard way around and had a friend bring the CD from Germany along with the latest Die Happy CD (with another excellent singer named Marta Jandova). Anyway, Guano Apes musicly grew up a little and there are some very, very good songs on the CD. Quietly brings about emotions I normally don't have as well as Kiss the Dawn and Pretty in Scarlet. They really deserve a chance in the USA and frankly, I don't see it coming due to inter-squabbling at BMG. But then again, that's why the recording industry is in such shambles.

GUANO APES - WALKING ON A THIN LINE,
By Caprycorn (Pearland, TX) - See all my reviews

Ever since I first heard "Open Your Eyes," I have been hooked on this band. They are amazing. And this new album proves it. This is their best album so far. Guano Apes seem to be one of those bands that grow with time, and each album they put out is better than the previous one. You can't find to many bands like that these days. This album sounds a lot different than their first two albums IMO. You can still tell it's them, but there seems to be a lot more softer melodic songs than before. Either way, Guano Apes are an awesome band and I think everyone should check them out, especially this new album. My favorite songs are: Pretty In Scarlet, Quietly, High, Kiss the Dawn, and You Can't Stop Me.01 - You Can't Stop Me - 4/5

More focused, more mature, classic Guano Apes (finally!),
By Brian Park (Cambridge, MA United States) - See all my reviews

This album is by far the best work Guano Apes have put out. I own both their previous albums, but in spite of moments of brilliance (including their debut single, "Open Your Eyes", neither of them really succeeded in channelling the obvious energy of the group consistently into songs that clicked. Walking on a Thin Line finally delivers, lining up song after song of classic Guano Apes. This album is a bit lighter on the manic joke songs than the previous albums, which is probably a good thing. While they have done decent light-hearted songs as B-sides ("Candy Love") and collaborations ("Kumba Yo") in the past, the darker, more sincere material is what Guano Apes do best. Songs like "Quietly", "Storm", and "Kiss the Dawn" on this album are especially successful in this vein. This album single-handedly puts Guano Apes in the ranks of the best rock bands of the world at the moment.

You Can't Stop Them,

From the start 1.You Can't Stop Me from 12.Sugar Skin are well written and Sandra Nasic has out done herself. Her vocals are superb on every song. #4. Pretty In Scarlet-outstanding! 5.Kiokhan such a change in rhythm and metal(I define it as metal, not rock).#6.Quietly this song should be played on FM station's more. #7.High get ready to run and Rock N Roll. Probably their best song they have written from all CD'S. #8.Sing That Song has it's moments. #9.Scratch The Pitch another great song alittle slower but still rocks. #10. Plastic Mouth rhythm with grain excellant drums-keeps you in the groove! #11.Storm metal and solid rhythms-turn it up! #12.Sugar Skin outstanding guitars and rhythms, great closing song for CD. I take my hat off to all members Stude,Sandra Nasic,Henning Rumenapp and Dennis Poschwatta. Buy it you won't be disappointed. Maybe I will have the opportunity to see them live soon 2005.

Beauty Meets the Beast,

Unlike Evanescence, to which many people will compare this band, Guano Apes blends heavy rock with the sometimes soft, sometimes just as heavy sound of Sandra's voice--no techno or industrial mixes. This CD is a MUST HAVE for those who love rock but wish for something a little less commercialized and lot more in touch with rock and roll's emotions.

Their best album to date,

Well rather than rate each song on a 1-10 points axis individually like i normally do.. i'll just say one thing... there are probably little to no bad songs at all on this album. The album starts out with "You Can't Stop Me" and "Dick"... which are very energetic and yet melodic songs which really set the album on the right foot. The things that makes this album so much better than the previous Guano APes album (Dont give me Names) is that it is so much more energetic and stimulating... as where Dont Give me Names was MUCH slower paces than their first album and just didn't live up to what a fan of the Apes might expect(don't get me wrong tho, some great songs on that album). the next two tracks, "Kiss the dawn" and "Pretty in scarlet" kind of slow down the mood a little bit... but are still worthy of being on the album and have great choruses. Diokhan is a bit "hip hop"ish almost... and though not a bad song is one of those songs that you'll probably skip over often. "Electric Nights" and "Quietly" are rock... butmore layed back rock. Electric nights has graet music.. but the chorus isn't that great. As where Quietly doesn't have very catchy guitars... but has an EXCELLENT chorus and is probably the best song on the album. It doesn't really sound like a guano apes song... more like a Cranberries song... but still good (after all, Guano Apes are known for covering many diff. styles of music) After "Quietly" the whole album kinda goes a bit down hill.. but not at a very constant rate. However... there are still some highlight songs towards the last half of the album, such as "Sing that Song" (not sure why i like that song but i do... it pumps me up!) and "High" are great songs... which take a little while to get into... but really build up. Over all though... this is by far my favorite Guano Apes album. "Proud LIke a God" was a great debut album... but i'd reccoment this album more because it has a much more mature feeling to it... and Proud like a God tends to get older quicker. A GREAT buy... get it today if you are an APes fan!!!

This album is really fantastic. Sandra Nasic has such a powerful voice. She's truly versatile. If you've not listened to the Guano Apes before, buy this album. From full-on 'rock out' in "Sing that Song" (my favorite) to "Quietly", you will definitely be impressed.

America needs to open it's eyes,

After telling my buddy a few years back about a little band with a sweet song called "Open Your Eyes" i saw on mtv, i recieved an e-mail last night from him with a songs from there new album that he purchased. I must say that I just ordered my copy and urge all of you to do the same. The first Single "You can't stop me" has the same power and energy like "Open your eyes" did. And some of the other new songs on this album sound just as powerful. Hopefully America will "Open It's Eyes". MTV PLAY THIS ALBUM

If I'm not mistaken, this is the true last album that Guano Apes released prior to their breakup. After listening to it a few times, this has to be probably their best album. It shows maturity in the band, I just wished that they would've lasted longer. This group was big in Germany when I was over there and by the time they were making it in the states, they had already broken up. It's a shame, but when people have differences, we can't stop them. If you're a fan, you won't be disappointed and if you're a new listener...add this to your collection.
