Odd, compelling, and memorable,

This review is from: Walking the Labyrinth (Paperback)
Walking the Labyrinth is an engrossing chimera of a book, part mystery (of the female-protagonist type), part fantasy (of the real-world-is weirder than you think type). It doesn't end up where you think it will, which is a wonderful quality for any book. However, a thoughtful reader will figure out where it is going (more or less) before the protagonist does, which is not such a good thing.
Like her other books (I've also read and enjoyed Dark Cities Underground and Summer King, Winter Fool), this one is too short for its material! I wish she would slow down, show more than she tells, and take about 25 percent more space to present her stories. On the other hand, these brief, rather sketchy, books do leave much for the reader to imagine. Walking the Labyrinth would make a good read for women who like any of the supernormal TV shows. I'm not sure it would appeal to guys. I'll have to lend it to some and see what they think! Disclaimer - The author is no relation, but I started reading her books because of her last name!
