I am handicapped. I cannot stand for long periods of time without a lot of pain. I thought about those canes with little stools but they didn't seem sturdy. I am a large woman and although I weigh less than the canes are rated for (250 lbs) they look poorly built. So I ordered this stool. This model is made in scandinavia and is rated for 440 pounds. It comes in a case and it folds down to about 14" long. It is easy to use, you fold out the legs into the tripod shape and then you pull out the lower legs. The seat is attached and spreads out as you fold the legs outward. It is a very fast process. To fold it up you do the same in reverse, pushing buttons to push the legs back in and folding everything back flat. The seat is about as high as your average chair, like a kitchen chair. You put one point of the seat between your legs. It is a comfortable seat and angled such that your back is arched properly. It is comfortable to sit in. I'm glad I bought it. I'll find it useful to use and easy to carry around.

I'm an overweight person, which plays a large part in the types of items that I could select [constant weight considerations]. The backpack lounge chairs are good for staying in one place [but sort-of heavy and bulky to move]. The walking cane stools are easy to use, but not that comfortable, nor that sturdy, nor can they get you close to the ground. This chair is both comfortable, low to the ground, and has a very light weight, with a convenient travel case. This chair is a good fit for me and my need of a compact, easy to travel with stool for watching golf.

I'm a backpacker. One huge hiker review site has many hundreds of reviews, and this is the only stool anybody has recomended. Mainly they were using the larger 22" (55cm) size. One reviewer there mentioned on the Sweedish maker's homesite a Volvo is shown lifted in the air by 7 of these stools. With lighter loads the wide legs keep it from sinking in soft ground. My office chair is 18", a typical living room couch is 13"-14". So the 18" seems to be of reasonable height and would save some weight in a backpack. For car camping, outdoor concerts, etc. I would use the next size taller.

Perfect Portable Chair,

I'm in my 60's and my wife and I spend a lot of time traveling Birding, visiting wineries, and historical sites events. We were looking for a portable lightweight stool/chair that could be carried easily with our other gear when walking to bird watching sites, sitting for long periods of time. In the past, I carried a blanket to sit on the ground. I didn't want to give up comfort for 'portable', but many collapsing chairs or stools are simply too large to easily transport. I bought two of the 18" Walkstool Comforts. I'm 5'10" and my wife is 5'1". The 18" comfort is the perfect size(18" is sitting height. It collapses down to about 14" and is extremely lightweight for the amount of weight is comfortably holds. (I'm about 180 lbs, wife 120. Just don't tell her I told you). I measured my Desk chair and found the 22" height could be a little too high for the way I use it. We've used the chair every birding trip we've made since purchase and they are very comfortable to sit in for long periods of time. The rubber feet are large and don't sink in to the dirt / ground. We've used them in rough terrain as well as on grass and flat surfaces and even on a sandy beach and they've held up very well. They come with a black canvas carry bag and strap so they're really easy to throw over the shoulder. I strap mine to my camera/binoculars carry bag beside my monopod and can't really tell much difference in weight of the bag I tote. The seat is triangular in shape. I usually sit with one 'point' of the triangle between my legs, but the wife prefers to sit with her legs closed 'between' two of the triangle points. The chair is comfortable both ways. (if you're small or 'petite' enough as my wife says to sit on it the way she does) I've never used the stool in the lower/collapsed position, but it would probably work that way for some people. The quality, load bearing strength, and light weight make this a perfect choice for people who want a comfortable chair that's easy to handle. I've ordered two more to carry in my car for those occasions I'm not birding but want to be able to sit down.

Great portable tripod stool. Well made and sturdy. Telescopic legs balance well and work smoothly. Extremely light and easy to transport. Carrying case is nice. Only negative is the price. Lowered price would make it perfect.

Pricey, but very sturdy and light. It works better than a folding chair for a fat guy like me. VERY good quality.

The Asthetic of the stool is sharp and modern. This completely portable, lightweight, and very durable stool looks just like the picture in the advertisement and comes in a little pouch that allows the stool to be carried around either as a backpack, over the shoulder, or latched on to some other luggage or belt. I weigh over the limit advertised on the stool and can sit on it comfortably and as of this writing it has not broken. Well worth the money for people with weight problems or other disabilities trying to get back on their feet and walk a bit more.

It folds down to a small package that easily fits in very small saddlebags for a motorcycle. Yet when opened it provides a comfortable stool for roadside breaks and days at a track. Although haven't yet found anyone near the weight limit for it, it appears very strong and stable. While I did not like the stool when the legs are not extended as it balances on the one central point, I would rarely if ever uutilize that height anyways. Great product - a bit expensive

I liked the 18" size and decided to buy a taller one 26"size, to use when working on large art projects.

This is a well made portable stool and I thought the 18 inch height would be fine for me. I have arthritis in my knees and found that once I was sitting down on the stool I had a lot of trouble getting up. I am returning the 18 inch and ordering the 22 inch which I hope will help with this problem.
