It ain't Floyd,
By A Customer
This review is from: Wall 2000: Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of (Audio CD)
While the cd's have some good tracks on them, this remix of the wall seemed to loose the album.Any big time Pink Floyd fan will have a hard time listening to this album, as the vocals transmit an entrily different message then the original. The flow from track to track that you found on the original work was also lost. Those people who have only one or two Floyd cd's might be interested if you like remixed stuff. Whatever you do, don't buy this CD to add to your Floyd collection... it's not Floyd.

Get over it guys, it's only a tribute,

Unlike most of the others who have reviewed this album, I am not going to moan about it not sounding like Pink Floyd. Of course it doesn't sound like the original album.....It is a tribute, made by a band 20 years later....i would have been bored with a carbon copy of the original. Out Of Phase have put something of themselves into the work, and i am sure that any band who is willing to take the time to make a 2CD tribute to Pink Floyd, holds the band in the highest respect. Yes....some of the mixes are a little unusual, and the album didn't flow like Pink Floyds....but lets face it.....It's hard to better perfection. Good effort Out Of Phase......I like it!

What's up with this?,

Am I stupid? I was online looking to see when the new Pink Floyd album was coming out. I entered "Pink Floyd" and came here. The first thing I see is "Pink Floyd Tribute:The Wall 2000. I asumed this was the new release and ordered it. What a dissapointment to get a COVER BAND! I never saw anything that mentioned that! Being a bass player in a band, I could just jam with my friends if I wanted to listen to a cover band! This cd is being sent right back!

This isn't right,

There are a couple of bands that should never be covered. Pink Floyd is at the top of that short list. The only cover cds worth anything are the orchestra or symphony recordings that I own. There are exeptions here and there but it is just impossible for any band to do Floyd's music justice. IT JUST CAN'T be done.

I can't believe you people who are saying: "I thought this was Pink Floyd, but it's not". Look at the cover of the CD!! You think PF would ever release an album called Pink Floyd TRIBUTE: The Wall 2000? It's a tribute people, look at the cover! And a horrible tribute. All this is is some crappy techno band doing cover songs. My friend made the mistake of buying this (without looking at the cover) and he played it for me one day. I was disgusted. I looked at him and said: "You really need to return this and get the REAL Wall." In fact, I listened to almost all of the first 3 songs. They sound NOTHING like the original songs. Do yourself a favor, save your money, and do NOT purchase this CD! This is NOT Pink Floyd!

A look at the other side of the Wall,

I am a serious Floyd fan who normally hates "tribute" records. I was simply blown away by this rendition. OOP does not try to be or copy Pink Floyd they do the music their style and I find it very refreshing. With two thirty-something professional sons that grew up listening to Pink Floyd I had them review this CD without any lead or comment from me they too bought the CD.

Not bad,
This review is from: Wall 2000: Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of (Audio CD)
I didn't feel like the band broke any new ground with this remake, although their Dark Side of the Moon and Animals remakes were really good. This is still a fairly decent CD.Alan

This is was not at all what I expected. This CD does not sound anything like the orginial and I was very disappointed and so was my son whom I bought the CD for.

Since its a different band, I would certainly hope that it wouldn't just be exactly the same, but with different voices. And it isn't. Alas, it is not different enough. I did find some of their instrument and vocal choices interesting, but overall, its actually very similar to the original, but not as good. There are a couple of places where it either sounds like they forgot a word, or they missed a beat. Also, there are places there there seems to be a bump in the flow. I wanted to like this version, as I tend to like alternate versions of things when they are done well, but i'm afraid that while this isn't bad, its not great. I'm afraid that in the future, when I want to hear "The Wall", i'll be reaching for either the Mobile Fidelity mastering of the original, or the Roger Waters Live in Berlin most of the time (the latter being a much more interesting alternate performance, particularly a woman singing "Mother"). There may be moods that I get into which will cause me to pull this version out, time will tell.

I bought this originally thinking it was the wall remixed. It's actually a cool cover of the album. It's different, very 'techno' perhaps, at times. But if you like Floyd and Inustrial/techno, you will probably like this album. Just be prepared for something completely different.
