5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!
In writing my own book on biblical prophecy I found THIS book more helpful than any chart I've ever seen. No, it's not about prophecy. It's all about history, but its method of laying out parallel streams and branches for every major nation on earth made it one of the best resources I've had for capturing in a glance all the major events that happened in any given year...

3.0 out of 5 stars Book = Biblical History (i.e. World created 4004BC)
Just want to make sure prospective buyers are aware that this book takes a strict Biblical perspective and starts world history at 4004 BC. If you are ok with that, then this book does a good job of graphically presenting events from that point forward. However, if you take the view that the world is 4 billion years old and that human evolution pre-dates 4004 BC (not to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, October 11, 2001
This review is from: The Wall Chart of World History: From Earliest Times To The Present (Hardcover)
In writing my own book on biblical prophecy I found THIS book more helpful than any chart I've ever seen. No, it's not about prophecy. It's all about history, but its method of laying out parallel streams and branches for every major nation on earth made it one of the best resources I've had for capturing in a glance all the major events that happened in any given year all the way back to about 4000 B.C. And it's fun! You get intrigued and want to look around and see what was happening in other countries at the time you're interested in or what happened in the century before or after. It starts you exploring the past. When you're reading about a particular time, you can flip to the chart and get a view of what was happening in the rest of the world at that time. Now my favorite resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Clear View of World History, November 20, 1997
This review is from: The Wall Chart of World History: From Earliest Times To The Present (Hardcover)
This large (12" x 18") book will leave you awestruck at our world's history. Between it's covers lies a 15 foot wall chart that represents historic time from the creation of the world to, as current as, 1990. Every fact is presented synchronologically and by equal lengths of time. The "stream of time" from the creation of man, flows through the accordion style pages with every King, Emperor, Ruler, civilization, nation, and territory carefully represented with exact names, dates and corresponding historical information. Other features that are included are Maps of the World's Great Empires and a Complete Geological Diagram of the Earth. But, the best part, is the hundreds of illustrations and snippets of historical facts set within the very pages of this amazing time line. Lists of battles, treaties, great events, chronologies, wonders of the world, art and literature...and this is literally just a few of the many, many educational gems that you will discover in this great visual representation of our world's fantastic history. Clearly illustrated, factually correct, and a beautiful addition to anyone's private library with it's marbleized hardback cover.

Outstanding! One can unroll/unfold history on the living room carpet from Adam and Eve to the latest American president at the time of the printing.

If you are ok with that, then this book does a good job of graphically presenting events from that point forward. However, if you take the view that the world is 4 billion years old and that human evolution pre-dates 4004 BC (not to mention the evolution of other current and extinct species), then you probably want to look for a different book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding resource for home and church use, November 28, 2002
This review is from: The Wall Chart of World History: From Earliest Times To The Present (Hardcover)
I know of no other resource that provides such an excellent, birds-eye, "young Earth" view of world history. History is really "His - Story," and the Wall Chart begins at the beginning with Adam and Eve. From there, it time-lines all the major Bible character and events, enabling the student to see who lived when and who was contemporary with whom. After the Flood and the Tower of Babel, the chart catalogs every major civilization up through 1997, so you can see (for example) what was going on in the Bible when the Pyramids were being built.

This latest and last edition (1997)presents a "good news / bad news" situation for the reader. The maps and the last two pages have been completely and superbly redone. Also the back of the chart has also been printed, devoting as much as two full pages for the major world power countries. The "bad news" is that when the secular publisher, Barnes & Noble, bought the copyright, they added a small 3.5" x 10.5" "Geochronological Timechart" on page 5. When I first saw this I thought, "What is a millions and billions of years evolutionary model doing in this book, which is clearly biblical and young earth?" But why should we be surprised? B & N makes no pretense of being a Christian company. As a Bible-believing pastor, I am totally against geo/evolutionary time theories. I have dozens of books in my library which demonstrate from good science the errors of evolutionary theory. Christians must not buy into any form of this godless "foolosophy." I do not believe in the historicity of the supposed "Jurassic Period," but I must at very least understand it. So this small Geochronological Timechart, is no big deal. Quite the contrary, it provides the creationist with a very simple example of what evolutionists believe.

Parents and teachers, who are considering the use of the Wall Chart should not throw the "baby" out with the proverbial "bath-water." In my opinion, the benefits of this latest edition far out-weigh any negatives, which any wise parent, pastor, or teacher should be able to teach around with no problem at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars 6000 Years at Your Fingertips, May 14, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Wall Chart of World History: From Earliest Times To The Present (Hardcover)
This chart is an incredibly detailed timeline of world history covering 6000 years. At the top are the years and as you look down the chart you are able to see what was going on everywhere in the world at that time.

It is a great way to put an event into context with the rest of the world at that same time.

The chart is in color and printed on quality paper so it holds up to lots of use.

You could even remove it from its hard cover and put it up on a wall for easier viewing.

Highly recommend for seeing the big picture in history.

This review is from: The Wall Chart of World History: From Earliest Times To The Present (Hardcover)
I borrowed this book from a friend and enjoyed its fresh perspective of looking at how the world got to where it is at today. It is basically a fold out timeline and is organized and detailed very well. I am currently looking to purchase a copy of my own, hence being on this web site. This will be the first book I have purchased over the web...

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome...Amazing book!!!!, November 26, 2008
This review is from: The Wall Chart of World History: From Earliest Times To The Present (Hardcover)
I never left any review before but this book is so amazing I must share my excitement! I have bought many and given them as very unique gifts to the right people! I wish this was used in my history class to allow a world perspective at any specific time in the past. I've pulled the book out when dating an intellectual woman and even they love looking through the worlds time line! Everyone finds specific points of interest to themselves. This is one of the few books I pull out often to reference things historically!
One point is that from the beginning of man till the great flood the time line/chart is based on the judeo-christian bible, then after the flood on written/recorded history. One must keep in mind that in many other continents and cultures the beginnings of man are explained in a different way.
Get it while its still available! Enjoy....

5.0 out of 5 stars Versions are Key, December 29, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wall Chart of World History: From Earliest Times To The Present (Hardcover)
In the original version, or reprints from 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1991, this is a wonderful book which presents a biblical view of world history, to include a simple but very artistically appealing timeline of Adam, and Eve, Cain and Abel, Seth, and each of the patriarchs all the way down to Moses -- but intricately tied in to all the major empires in an interwoven fashion which finally makes world history clear, particularly in the potentially very confusing realm of contemporaneous concerns (what was happening in China at the time, etc). To the right of the timeline, which stretches to 1990, the thing is practically a web with separate lines to indicate the lineage of practically fifty or more major countries.

By far the most notable (and laudable) aspect of the original versions of this chart are the close adherence to a literal interpretation of the Bible, along with its tacit denial of so-called prehistory.

Tragically, the 1997 version of this book incorporates a caveat that the publisher takes no responsibility for this courageous and now rare view, refering to "the Victorian elements of the chart" which "reflect prevailing knowledge and understanding" and further bleats that "any innaccuracies reflect this." How thoroughly disappointing and pedestrian. The wrong people clearly purchased the copywrite to this materal...

Furthermore, in tiny notes are incorporated in the margins near the most ancient historical portion reflect apostate views inspired by evolution theory, including the expansion of historical timelines to incorporate 10,000 year histories of north America, etc., which are in conflict with a strict literal interpretation of the Bible reflected by the older version.

Very sadly, ages of the earth such as the theoretical mesolithic, neolithic, paleolithic ages are also reported as though they were factually based, and not theoretical (as they, in truth are). These are all parts of evolution theory, and completely inconsistent with the Bible -- and which are further unproven by reliable scientific observation or experimentation.

The original version is a goldmine. The 1997 version is a sad abandonment of God's word, which was its original guidepost and anchor. The apostate newer version is of radically reduced value for learning. Again, it appears as thought the wrong people purchased the copywrite to this materal...

5.0 out of 5 stars Puts time into perspective., September 27, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wall Chart of World History: From Earliest Times To The Present (Hardcover)
I have used the chart, pre 1997 version in teaching my children at home and others in Sunday School. I found it espically helpful with special needs children and those literally needing a picture of history. It brings our times and country into perspective. Great for all ages.
