2.0 out of 5 stars Breaks very easily
We bought this for my 2 year old daughter who loves wall-e. She loves the toy, brings it everywhere, and even sleeps with it. Overall it has been a huge hit. But within a few minutes of having it out of the box, the hand were coming off. Then the head started popping off later in the night. While it's an easy fix to pop them back on, it's a pain when we're in the car...

Of all the different versions of Wall-e, I tried to convince my 6-year-old son to get one of the small action figures because he could get more characters for his Wall-E budget, but he wanted one of the big ones. And even though he saw that there was a choice between this one, the RC version and the one that interacts, as soon as he saw that this one transformed into a box he HAD to have it. Since it was the least expensive I thew in the clean-up M-O toy, too, so Wall-E would have a pal. It's been a few weeks now and Wall-E hasn't left my son's side, not even at bedtime. He talks to him, he acts out scenes from the movie (we bought the soundtrack, too, which helps with that), and he CONSTANTLY opens and closes him. So I know the toy is rugged because it's gone through some serious play tests! My son doesn't mind that there aren't bells, whistles, beeps -- or even that the treads aren't as big as they are on the "real" Wall-E. And I like that, too -- he gets to use his imagination instead of the toy doing everything for him.

It's eyes can wiggle a bit for different expressions, his "head" turns around, his arms move open and up and down and there are wheels on the bottom of the treads (the treads don't really turn. The front panel opens to reveal a picture of crushed garbage and other than that it has non-moving parts that are reminiscent of the "real" Wall-E (like the play/record/stop buttons, even though they don't move). So it's a great representation of the movie character. We purchased it for about $20 retail and it was worth every penny.

Amazing how expensive this toy is getting. Very easy to operate, my 2.5 yr. old can do it. You can manipulate wall-E's eyes, fingers, and legs, very much like he moved in the movie. A great toy if you love the movie, or even if you haven't seen it. A+++ Toy!

4.0 out of 5 stars More Durable Than I thought, December 1, 2008

This review is from: Wall-E Transforming Wall-E (Toy)
When I purchased this for my 3 year old son about 4 months ago, I didn't expect for it to last more than 2 months. He is very tough on toys, but everything that can pop off (head, arms, and hands) easily pop right back into place. These parts don't normally pop off easily on their own, but when they do, it is very easy to fix.

My son takes this toy with him everywhere and he too sleeps with it. He has to really mash the head and "feet" in order to transform Wall-E into a cube...but like I said before...this toy can take abuse!!

If your child loves Wall-E and dishes out tough love, then this toy is for you.

For something that costs over $20, I would have expected much better craftsmanship! Very upset with this product.

Both of my sons had been begging for this toy when they saw it at a Toys R Us store last summer. I don't drop $25 on an impulse toy buy, so I told them we'd wait and get it later. I wanted to judge just how much they REALLY liked the toy. They mentioned it at least once a week all the way up to Christmas, but of course Toys R Us was out of them by that time. Thank goodness Amazon had them, it made their Christmas! They haven't stopped playing with them and even sleep with them. His head, arms and "feet" fold into his body just like in the movie. Push one button and his head pops out, another button releases his arms and another his "feet." Watch out for the hole where his neck is, my 3 year old daughter put a penny in it and it wouldn't come out. It also kept Wall-e from folding up. I had to unscrew the back and VERY carefully take it off (all of the springs that make his limbs pop out are in there, don't want to lose those!), get the penny out and then put him back together. THAT wound up being the hardest part. If you DO have to take him apart, be sure you get the lever in the back right, otherwise he won't pop out. The back will screw on and it will seem OK until you try to push the lever. I wound up having to take the back off again twice to get the lever right. Seems like they could have put some kind of shield there to keep things from going in, or made his trash compactor door open to the inside, or something...

But my kids REALLY love this toy! It's a lot more durable than I thought it would be, and they're not easy on their toys. It's also bigger than I thought it would be. Wall-e's cube is about 5" square, but once you have his limbs out, he's about 9" tall. I got free 2nd day shipping by joining Amazon Moms, so that made the $25 price tag easier to swallow.

We send this Transformer Wall-E and Eve to my gr-son; when it came in the mail he jumped up and down saying it's Wall-E. My Gr-son loves this toy, He has hours of fun playing with Wall-E. I feel that toys like these help children make up their own play, and in this was the toy is educational. He has both toys Wall-E and Eve and he makes up play for them. This is better then him just looking at TV.

I can say that my son is a Pixar kid he has move over from Woody and Buzz Lightyear to sleep with Wall-E, the toy is great easy to transform and already has received the heavy duty treatment and still works fine

My daughter got this for her 2nd Birthday. Wall-E is her favorite character and she loves this toy. She needs help to put him into his box but she knows how to press all the buttons to open him up. He has been dropped quite a few times and has taken this very well. His hands do come off easily but they are just as easy to put back on and it doesn't happen that often.

I bought this toy for my 6-year old son and it is one of my most successful toy purchases to date. He carried it everywhere with him for months and still plays with it regularly(over a year later). The only part that didn't hold up to all those mega-hours of play is the front garbage door. It eventually wouldn't stay shut... he just wore it out. Nothing a little tape couldn't fix, and then he was off and playing again! The only real educational value is in figuring out the actions for transforming it back and forth - logic skills and puzzle solving, I suppose. All I know is that this was a HUGE hit with my son and the best toy money I ever spent.

Don't believe the dimensions given for the product. The BOX is actually 5.8 x 9.5 x 8.5 inches, not Wall-E. Wall-E is actually quite small. Perhaps half that size. So much for truth in advertising (again). Good thing that it's going to a 3 year old. My 6 year old would be very disappointed. Not a good deal for $25.
