Cute, but cruel. Sorry, but it's true!,

This review is from: Wall Mount Fish Bowl Aquarium Tank Beta Goldfish (Misc.)
I was really excited about finding this wall-mounted fish bowl, and when it arrived I was delighted. I got it set up (it was very easy to hang), added my beta and thought it looked fabulous. It seemed sturdily made, and truly was an attention-grabber and a conversations starter. However, after a short while I found myself looking at my beta, who hardly had room to turn around, and feeling pretty guilty about keeping a living creature in such a tiny world simply because I thought it was pretty to look (and contrary to popular belief, betas do not "like" living in cups because it mimics their natural habitat. This is a lie to get people to buy betas in cups). After a few weeks I broke down and bought a small aquarium. The beta is MUCH happier and frankly I am as well, because it addition to assuaging my guilt I find the beta much more interesting to watch now that he has room to spread his fins a bit. I now have aquatic plants in the wall-mounted bowl, and can enjoy its beauty in a guilt-free fashion. It's much better.

Don't bother!,
This review is from: Wall Mount Fish Bowl Aquarium Tank Beta Goldfish (Misc.)
I bought this for my daughter's 16th birthday. I paid way too much for a piece of plastic that really shouldn't be for a beta fish because these fish need a heated tank and there is no way to get a heater in there. The opening on the top is way too small to get anything in there. We had two fish die within two weeks of having each of them because they "froze to death" according to the pet store. So, don't bother.

Bettas are pets, not paintings,
This review is from: Wall Mount Fish Bowl Aquarium Tank Beta Goldfish (Misc.)
I don't know who came up with the idea of stuffing a fish in a bowl hanging on a wall as if it was a painting but it is a horrible idea. This bowl is further proof that the pet industry does not know anything about the needs of betta fishes. I would strongly recommend people to put more research into caring for betta fishes. These stupid tanks don't do anything but shorten the life span of my favorite tropical fish. The design may be aesthetically pleasing from afar but practical it is not.
First of all, because it only holds one gallon of water, water changes must be frequent like every other day. Bettas excrete a urine type substance through their gills that contains ammonia. Ammonia is not good for bettas who are sensitive fish. Having it mounted on the wall makes it all the more difficult to do water changes. Practical and functional this is not. I won't even get into what would happen if someone accidentally knocks the bowl off the wall. I know I am right about my information. I have done my research on betta fishes (i.e betta fish forums). They are not puddle fishes that are happy in small amounts water. That is a total myth. The wild bettas that begat the bettas we buy in pet stores come from rice paddies that are shallow yet very spacious. Google rice paddies and you will see they are not tiny bodies of water. Betta fishes deserves to be in tanks that aren't 1/5 to 1 gallon. They need to be in 2.5 gallons at the minimum so they can be heated properly by an adjustable heater. Bettas are tropical fishes. Heaters helps prevent serious illnesses and diseases as well as keep them warm. Also heated water = a more active fish. A lot of pet store clerks do not know squat about bettas so I suggest going online to do research about them, preferably in forums where more experience fish keepers can provide reliable information on how to take care of betta fishes If you cannot and are not willing to provide the proper heating and frequent water changes, then go get some sea monkeys for that tacky hanging wall tank. I am sick and tired of seeing people buying this garbage and not know how to take care of their bettas properly. P.S...for those who keep voting this review not helpful, I'm going to delete and re-post this review so keep it up. I know I can. I know what I am talking about. I have done my research on bettas. I do not rely on pet store clerks, many do not know what they are talking about. Bettas are living, breathing animals with specific needs since they are tropical fish. They are not decorations
