5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Flatware
Feels and looks expensive. Continental size, heavy weight with a simple yet elegant design. My first set, now two months old and purchased for twice the amount, has held up beautifully to the daily abuse of a seven person household.

This flatware is fairly heavy, but it just doesn't have the shine and finishing of quality 18/10 stainless. It is 21/0. From what I have read on a metallurgy website, this is economy flatware that loses what shine it has over time. It has extra chromium for hardness, but no nickel, which is important for resisting corrosion and for a mirror shine.

My main reason for returning it, though, is that the size of a teaspoon is only 5 & 7/8" and it has a very small bowl. If you have big 11" dinner plates like Pfaltzgraff stoneware, the teaspoons feel and look like they are child size. The place spoons are 6 & 7/8". The place forks are 8". I have already boxed it for return, but I believe the knives are 9".

I do not think it looks expensive, but it is better than the really cheap sets that bend easily. Nickel prices have gone up, and you can't get what you used to get for $100.

Please be aware that all reviews for all flatware which discuss flatware that was made more than about 5 years ago, applies only to the older flatware that the person owns, which was very likely made in the USA. Such reviews do NOT apply to new pieces made in China and being sold today. They may carry the US brand name and even the same pattern name, but they will be different in weight, finishing quality, and metals used. You can find hundreds of complaints online about new, expensive, supposedly 18/10 flatware sold under famous old American brand names, but made in China or other Eastern countries. So even 18/10 is no guarantee, and this is the reason many people have turned to buying vintage American made flatware.

Our everday flatware was light and dull. Looked at Amazon's selections first and spent another 45 minutes checking other websites. Nothing compared to the Wallace Grande. It is beautiful, well balanced and I am proud to use it for guests. Comes out of the dishwasher brilliant.

A Kid's Review

I just received this flatware in the mail yesterday and love it compared to my old flatware which I got for my wedding 27 years ago. This will be a replacement for that. When I compare it to my old Oneida, it is larger, heavier and I like the style better now too (different season of life now so different tastes). I don't know about the wear and tear on it yet but the first impression and feel of the flatware is great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Strong Flatware, April 30, 2010
This review is from: Wallace Grande Ballroom Hotel Luxe Flatware Set (Kitchen)
This flatware is great, I wish I knew where to get more at the same price I paid from Costco as this price is a bit expensive. This silverware is great for everyday use and still has a good shine after 6 years of use. Will not bend in anyway.
