I want to let people know that although this isn't the kindest review, I really do love this series! It's just that well... the last few volumes have just been repetitive. It's the same situation over & over again. "Ugly" Sunako freaks people out. Something happens & then Sunako is either rescued by the pretty boys or she does something that shows her inner beauty. The end of the chapter always has her in the usual SD pose to show how freakish she is in comparison to everyone else. We get it, Tomoko, we GET it! Sunako's not a normal girl & the whole point of the story is that looks are decieving & that we should also accept ourselves as who we are.

In this latest volume we have several different occurences. We have a flooding of the basement where Sunako was previously held captive which leads to a nice bonding moment with Kyohei. We also get a little insight into Yuki (easily the most underused character) which is nice. It's about time he got fleshed out a little. Even so, the stories just don't seem to really satisfy anymore. They're great little snacks, but you just want something juicy & satisfying to sink your teeth into... and that's been missing since the early volumes. I can only hope that future volumes has something actually happening rather than the wheel-spinning that is going on right now.

Would I recommend this? Sure, I guess. It's a bit dull at the moment, but hopefully it'll recapture the magic it had early on.

I liked this one, and it provided some background to the characters and there were soem funny situations and stuff... but there seemed to be something lacking compared to the earlier volumes. I mean, with the earlier volumes, I was sometimes literally rolling over the floor laughing out loud, and Sunako-chan was this really cool character, and I loved the creepy reasoning and stuff. They were very good for a nice, fun read. This one, though, seems to be a little more serious, and while I don't mind that, I think the main characters somehow look better if their storylines are more hilarious then serious, because these characters are so unrealistic themselves. Also, I'm feeling for a couple of volumes now that Hayakawa repeats the same storylines and ideas too much. These were and are good ideas, but it would be nice to read something new (I mean, if she just keeps rehashing the same storylines, I can just as well read the earlier volumes another thime instead of buying the newest one).

I read somewhere in this volume that the series was originally supposed to be just 13 volumes or something. That could explain the rehashing that is at least partially done in volume 12 and 14 (13 was fine).
