Gradually, painting and stencil designs have replaced paper as popular tools for bringing a room alive; people often imagine papering as a terrible chore--all paste-encrusted brushes and sloppy seams. Using color photographs to illustrate a variety of wallpaper prints, textured, scenic, dados, and borders in settings that range from formal to traditional to casual to modern, wallpaper designer Gordon-Clark successfully encourages the use of wallpaper in contemporary interiors. She also gives historical background on its design, printing, and use throughout the years. Black-and-white drawings depict the techniques of applying wallpaper. A good choice for any size public library for its combination of historical and contemporary wallpaper design and the inclusion of wallpaper application.
