5.0 out of 5 stars The Walrus
I am really biased because I know the author, he was my high school history teacher. I did not read the book until after graduation, but it is awesome. I am a huge Beatles fan. I have all the albums. My influence in the Beatles was developed by Mr. Patterson, with his discussions of the book, photos, and albums.

2.0 out of 5 stars More organization, editing & focus needed, but great photos.
I enthusiastically ordered this book after hearing a good interview with the author. I was rather disappointed with the book. The photos of album covers and insides, with the narrative comments, were a lot of fun. The photos of album covers and insides, with the narrative comments, were a lot of fun. But the author seems to include reasonably clear clues, speculation, idle speculation and bizarre speculation all on the same level. Its hard to know what to take seriously as the book wanders throughout all of those. Would have been a more enjoyable read if better organized, edited and focused.

2.0 out of 5 stars A FASCINATING TOPIC, BUT NOT THROUGHLY RESEARCHED, December 8, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Walrus Was Paul: The Great Beatle Death Clues of 1969 (Paperback)
Patterson does a thorough job of reprinting/rewriting a lot of old Rolling Stone articles, but doesn't go the extra distance in tracking down the behind-the-scenes story of this great rock 'n' roll rumor. Anyone who is interested in this topic is urged to seek out the book TURN ME ON, DEAD MAN by Andru Reeve, available thru Amazon Books. I found it to be the superior of the two books, though Reeve's book is a bit pricey (I paid $35 for my copy).

4.0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK IS.....UM....OK, I GUESS, July 1, 1999
By A Customer
Okay. I read this book like 2 years ago, so this review may not be so "accurate" if you know what I mean. I'm a Beatles fan & Paul McCartney is my fave. I'm 15 so I didn't witness "Beatle Mania" but after I saw the Anthology on TV, I fell in love. Well, I heard about the rumors that Paul was dead over the internet & I didn't know it was a joke, so when I heard that this book was out, I just HAD to buy it. Well, let me tell ya. If you have the internet, you really don't need this book at all. There are tons of webpages w/the exact same info that you can get for free. Okay, so there may be 1 or 2 more clues, but not enough to buy the book. Now if you don't have the internet, then you should buy the book cuz it has all the clues plus some other stuff. All in all, the title pretty much describes the book.

P.S. I want you to know that I don't believe any of that "Paul is Dead" stuff, it's just fun to read about:)

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating and detailed look at Rock's greatest mystery!, June 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Walrus Was Paul: The Great Beatle Death Clues of 1969 (Paperback)
Wow! I loved "The Walrus Was Paul." I found it to be written in a very easy to read convesational matter, but the book's strong point is a detailed, witty, but most importantly, a fun romp through the Paul is Dead hysteria. The author's style makes the reader feel as if he or she were going through this mystery for the first time, and for many of us we are. Though I have read "Turn me On Dead Man" I find "The Walrus Was Paul" to be a more entertaining read complete with color photos and at only half the price. The book's scope continues through the Simpson episode where Paul states in a backward track, "Oh, and by the way. I'm alive." This is a unique book for anyone's Beatle collection!
