5.0 out of 5 stars Nature by Disney
I have fond memories of seeing the True Life Adventure films on the Disney TV show growing up, as well as in re-release in theatres, and this volume contains one of my favorites, BEAR COUNTRY. The other 3 films are also very enjoyable, with THE AFRICAN LION being a standout. These restored versions are lovely and really allow you to experience nature's majesty.

The other 3 films are also very enjoyable, with THE AFRICAN LION being a standout. These restored versions are lovely and really allow you to experience nature's majesty.
The extras are also quite good, especially FILMMAKER'S JOURNAL, which features recent interviews with people involved in making these movies. It's really amazing what these people went through to film these adventures.
These films helped form my love of nature as a child. Here's hoping they can still have that affect on kids today.

The complete Walt Disney "True Life Adventures" series is now available on very high quality DVD. Nothing filmed since comes up to these. Buy them all, and sit down with your family for spell-binding entertainment. My vote for the highlight of Volume 3 is "Bear Country". It is set in Yellowstone National Park, and in addition to the bears, you get to see into the hole of a geyser.

My father referred to the classic Disney film "Olympic Elk" for several years. When the video finally became available on DVD, I bought a copy for him, and one for myself.

This film follows the life cycle of the elk which reside in Olympic National Park. The animal photography is excellent, especially considering the time it was produced. The remote setting is stunning. I visited the area with my son in 2007. We saw several elk ourselves, while there. Watching this video brings back special memories of that trip.

Don't miss this classic family film.

Finally Disney is releasing old classics. These were gems when I was a child and they still shine just as brightly. Maybe it's part sharing a nostalgia of an quieter, more family oriented time, maybe it's that those well written stories hold true value today as entertainment for all ages, including a grandpa watching with a grandchild...reliving childhood with those we love. Anyway, a big thank you to Disney. You will enjoy these!

5.0 out of 5 stars Disney True Adventure, August 24, 2007

Could you rate it a 10 or 100. Who couldn't love Disney's True Adventures. Yes, there is even a whole channel for animal adventures now, but they were the first--and they were the best. They are pack in a great package; durable and imaginative. The added interviews and backstage scenes are great. I can remember seeing them on their program (in black and white) when I was in first grade. They are wonderful. It was a treat to learn about the couple who filmed them too. Spending years and years filming things they thought was funny or interesting. Then bringing them back and someone putting them together into a story that is loved forever. I have all four of them. And we watch them over and over.

I bought this for the Olympic Elk segment because I had heard so much about it as a kid and read an amazing book about the Crisler's who filmed that segment. It lived up to my expectations. It was stunning, especially considering it was filmed in color in 1951 or 1952. The other segments are equally stunning. This is both classic Disney and stunning outdoor photography, totally unstaged, of wild animals in their environment and the stunninly beautiful envirnonment itself. If you want to see what the remote parts of the Olympic Mountains look like this is it.
