Great information, for couples or singles!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Walt Disney World for Couples 1999-2000 : With or Without Kids (Paperback)
The Perlmutters have compiled an astonishing amount of useful information in this book - most of which is as applicable to families or single travellers as it is to couples. Lots of little, out-of-the-way sights are described, things you'd never otherwise know to look for. The descriptions of the Disney resorts are especially thorough -- this is the only guidebook I've seen so far that has MAPS of each resort! If there's a fault to this book, it's that the authors seem to love absolutely EVERYTHING they find at WDW - their most scathing restaurant reviews say mildly, "Well, this wasn't to our taste." But the descriptions of everything are thorough enough that you should be able to decide for yourself whether any given item is something you would like. And frankly, I think the Perlmutters' reactions to Disney are closer to my own honest reactions than any of the guidebooks that go out of their way to find fault.

I have purchased 5 WDW books and this is my very favorite. From the way it is set up to the enormous amount of detailed information...it is a must have for couples going to WDW.

This book made our trip to Disney World a success!,

Although we weren't at Disney World as newlyweds or on a romantic getaway (we took 2 teens and 2 adult children with us), the informative articles in this book about the hotels, restaurants and attractions helped our family plan a very successful trip to Disney World. We had purchased 5 different guides to Walt Disney World, but found ourselves referring back to this one the most. After we got home, we re-looked at the descriptions and found the Perlmutter's were the most accurate and honest. I highly recommend it and will get an updated version when we travel to Walt Disney World again.

My fiance and I purchased this book as part of our honeymoon planning "frenzy." We found its advice to be invaluable in terms of how to manage our time, what to see, etc. There are some sections aimed at couples who have their kids along, but there are also whole sections dedicated to adults-only travel. Another nice feature of this book is the little icons that draw your attention to specific features of an attraction (e.g., a scale of 1-5 hearts indicates the "romantic quotient" of a given activity). The book also had some excellent information in terms of timing one's visit to Orlando area attractions (such as, arrive two hours earlier than opening time, to allow for parking, etc.). Not to be missed by honeymooners!

Everything you ever wanted to know about Walt Disney World..,

I was amazed by the thoroughness of this book. It seems that the Perlmutters have achieved the impossible - seeing everything at Walt Disney World. The descriptions of the hotels, attractions and restaurants are very detailed and include many helpful hints. I always thought Disney was for kids until I read this book - I am now really excited about visiting Walt Disney World as an adult! The only downside to this book is that there is no real "critical" voice - the book contains no negative criticism of Disney. Can EVERYTHING at Walt Disney World be as great as the Perlmutters say? With that said, it is still a very good book.

Outstanding Resource for Romance at Disney,
By "notalawyer" (Decatur, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Walt Disney World for Couples, 2002-2003: With or Without Kids (Paperback)
The Perlmutter's have done an wonderful job of outlining the wonders of Disney for several years. Their book covers the romance of each Disney attraction, the general enjoyment/impression of each item, and they provide enough information about each item so that the reader can make a decision that's informed enough to say, "well, they didn't think it was too great, but that sounds perfect for my partner and me."Truly, if you are going to Disney without too many children (though the Perlmutter's also do a great job of describing how to enjoy Disney's romance WITH children around), then you owe it to yourself to purchase this book. My wife and I have never been disappointed by their observations and having lived in Florida for several years we have been to WDW far too many times! You can of course enjoy the romance of Disney without this book; however, doing so is similar to the difference between saying, "I love you" to your partner as you both head out the door to work or saying, "When the sun reflects off of your hair each morning I can't help but fall in love with you all over again" while you're holding him/her in your arms. - Or saying something MUCH more eloquent if that just turned your stomach! :)

In preparation for our January 2003 trip to Disney World, I bought just about every book available (5 in all) to assist me in the planning process, including this one-- which looked promising. I've discovered that the key to a good Disney Guidebook is in its TIMLINESS. Things are constantly changing at Disney. That being said, it's important to note that while this book says "2002-2003" on the cover, the prices reflect those for 2001 and so do some of the attraction suggestions. While I know it must be challenging trying to keep up with all those changes, the Unofficial Guidebooks and others have done a MUCH better job of keeping pace. I would suggest that the Perlmutter's take it one year at a time in terms of publishing dates in order to deliver the best quality product for their readers. I will say that some of their suggestions are worthwhile, as long as they are still available.

The Guide to Romance at WDW,
By K. Toles (Akron, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Walt Disney World for Couples, 2002-2003: With or Without Kids (Paperback)
This is the most comprehensive guide available for adults going to Disney. Not only does it cover all of the activities that you can do at the parks, but it also gives great tips for romantic interludes. The format is very well organized and the writing is straightforward and genial. The only drawback I perceived was the authors' bias in favor of certain resorts and restaurants. Unlike some other guides, however, this book is not just one giant ad for Disney. It gives the good and the bad about all of the attractions, resorts, and dining. Some of the information is a little outdated (especially concerning pricing and availability of certain planning materials), but overall it is a very solid guide, especially for couples who want a little romance while visiting the happiest place on earth.

Excellent Insider Tips & Advice,

This review is from: Walt Disney World for Couples, 2002-2003: With or Without Kids (Paperback)
According to visitors to my web site (GetawayWeddings.com), Walt Disney World - believe it or not - is one of the most popular destinations for a romantic vacation! For couples planning such a trip, there is one must-have book: Walt Disney World for Couples: With or Without Kids by Rick and Gayle Perlmutter. The authors reveal everything you need to know about WDW before you arrive in Orlando. And, not only are their tips right on the mark, they are designed with a nod to romance and adventure. First and foremost, this book debunks the myth that WDW is just for kids. Rick and Gayle highlight what's important to you and suggest which resorts, attractions, restaurants, and special events match your vacation mood.Walt Disney World for Couples begins with an overview of the typical trip experience. They touch upon Disney resorts, park admission options, sticking to a budget, and more. You'll find frank discussions that zero in on the resorts on and off Disney property. Armed with this book, you'll be able to compare and contrast different hotels. In addition, you'll find solid tips regarding the theme parks, restaurants, shops, and recreation. This is one book you can't live without if you plan to sweep your honey away in a swirl of romance during your next visit to the World.

Great Book For Couples,
By A Customer
This review is from: Walt Disney World for Couples, 2002-2003: With or Without Kids (Paperback)
This is my favorite WDW guide book. Great overall presentation geared toward couples going to the World. The resort descriptions are far more detailed than any I've seen. The dining reviews are very good. The guidebook doesn't use any polls, the authors just give us their impressions of everything at the resort. Although I certainly don't agree with all of their reviews, they do an outstanding job describing what they feel is the (mostly) good and bad at Disney World. Outstanding resource for first-time visitors or veterans of many trips. Five-star rating!
