5.0 out of 5 stars Not the Mouse Droppings I expected
I have put off going to Disney stuff all my life (I'm 55)and went to EPCOT kicking and screaming. It was one of the most amazing places I have been to,largely in part to the Millenium Celebration music! As I watched the parade by on an 80 degree,Dec. day I must say I held back tears of joy it was so wounderful. People from all over the world standing together smiling...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok'ish, and I'm a Disney fan...

I have extensive music library of everything Disney and therefore had to buy this and was excited reading the other reviews. I was startled by the new high price so went for a good second hand, a wise decision. The music is OK'ish but no better than all the others, infact on my itunes, I had to delete about half of the numbers as I already had them from other...

As I watched the parade by on an 80 degree,Dec. day I must say I held back tears of joy it was so wounderful. People from all over the world standing together smiling. Now when I go out for my evening walk in the -10 Minnesota night, headphones on,under 2 stocking hats, and play "Tapestry Of Nations" it brings it all back. This is as stiring as anything J.P.Sosa wrote. Thank you Walt wherever you are!

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as the "live" performance, December 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration (Audio CD)
Just got back from a trip to Disney World where I bought this CD. I only wish I had known that it was available here on Amazon.com--I would have saved myself some $$.

However, the album is quite wonderful. Disney has written some incredible music for their Epcot displays that are well worth listening to back at home.

The Reflections of Earth (track one) can only be described as a Symphony for the next century.

The Tapestry of Nations (track three) is a wonderful 23 minutes of rythmic singing and drums that is quite inspiring.

You don't need to have seen the original live performances to enjoy this CD.

I bought this CD at DisneyWorld and I'm now kicking myself for not waiting to buy it here! The parade and fireworks were great, and this music is even better! The only thing I would like is the introduction speeches for Tapestry of Nations - they really add something to the music. I would recommend this CD 100% to anyone!

In my opinion this is one of the best releases with park music of the decade. I haven't been to the Millennium Celebration at Epcot, but this music is simply sensational! I can't describe this CD in words. It's great and it should be in the collection of every Disneyfan.

5.0 out of 5 stars another Disney cant-miss production!, April 3, 2000

This review is from: Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration (Audio CD)
Wow! That was all i could say. I had the pleasure of making the trip to Disneyworld just last month, and the Epcot millenium celebrations were absolutely fantastic. I saw it the first nite i was there, and after seeing that, i made sure that i was back there all of the other nites i was there to see it again. It was just so good that i could not stay away. Immediately after seeing it the first nite, I searched every gift shop until i found this CD and it was worth every cent. The Tapestry of Nations is the best Disney production that i have ever seen. Its not as big of a production as some other Disney shows, but it is every bit as good. The music is emotional and amazing as it symbolizes the many different cultures of the world. Also, Illuminations is the year-long millenium celebration that cannot be topped. The orchestration of its music is amazing in how it fits with their water and firework displays. This CD has helped me to relive my wonderful experiences at EPCOT. It still brings chills to my spine every time i listen to it.I would highly reccommend it to anyone, and i would definitely reccommend to anyone that has ever wanted to go to Disneyworld to go NOW! This celebration should NOT be missed! I am already planning a trip back before its all over!

The CD really is amazing...the Tapestry of Nations track is a phenomenal song. It's the music they use for the parade which is one of the most visually stunning parades I'd ever seen. It was incredible to just look around and see everyone dancing, similing, and rocking to the music. The song really does pick up your spirits...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Compare!, August 26, 2000

To say I was moved by the Millennium celebration that I experienced during my visit to Epcot in Nov '99 is something of an understatement, it is one of those things that you simply must see several times, so powerful is it's message.

When I discovered that the soundtrack to the experience is available, I couldn't reach for my credit card fast enough. Now that the CD has arrived, and I have listened to it several times (I am playing it right now), I can only say I am in awe. I actually had tears in my eyes while listening to "Reflections of Earth"!

The recording quality of the CD is also superb, with very rich and clean bass and fantastic vocal clarity on track 4, "Promise". The music on this CD can certainly give your Hi-Fi a workout :), rarely can a recording of this nature be played LOUD with such ease.

It is very hard to review this CD objectively, as after experiencing the "real thing" live at Epcot, you can't help but be taken back there whenever you hear the rhythm of "Tapestry of Nations", however I played the CD for my Mum (who has not seen it at Epcot) and she loves the music too.

Anyone who has been fortunate enough to experience the Millennium Celebrations at Walt Disney World, simply has to get this CD, the memories that will be brought back to you are priceless, and they will live with you forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply AWESOME!, February 23, 2000

There are so many words that could describe this CD - awesome, brilliant, awe-inspiring, uplifting, meaningful, fantastic, wonderful, and so on. The music for "IllumiNations 2000 - Reflections of Earth" is an absolute masterpiece. As people of all lands have gathered for thousands and thousand of years before us: to share the light and to share a story. An amazing story, as old as time itself, but still being written. And though each of us has our own individual story to tell, a true adventure emerges when we bring them all together as one. We Go On - I get shivers & goosebumps whenever I hear it, because it is so uplifting and really describes what we can do for this new millennium. I am reminded of the awe-inspiring finale to the IllumiNations show whenever I hear this one as well. Promise - strikingly similar to "We Go On", which carries the same message. These two songs really reflect the true meaning of this new millennium. "Tapestry of Nations" - Very tribal, yet very dignified. I have seen this parade (twice) and I think that this music can bring people of all nations together, regardless of color or nationality. Tapestry of Nations combines hundreds of artistic elements to create a celebration like no other. The size and scope of the pageantry will dazzle, amuse and mystify as this parade gives this millennium spectacular a signature all its own. "Celebrate the Future Hand In Hand" - I loved how they put in "When You Wish Upon A Star" at the end of the song. Very beautiful and very uplifting. Another perfect example of how this song can reflect the new millennium. I recommend that everyone buys this CD, whether you've been to the Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration or not. Ut will make you want to go back whenever you listen to it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece. A deeply moving, powerful musical construct, October 12, 1999
By
Kevin Lindberg (Atlanta, Georgia) - See all my reviews

This CD is intense and extremely moving. All the songs are well done but Tapestry of Nations (22 minutes in length) is amazing and worth every penny spent for the CD. Through music (i.e. no intelligible lyrics) this song tells the story of all the nations. We hear as the base for the music an underlying (and sometimes extremely robust) rhythmic African beat and voices. In my opinion, this (as is the theory of many scholars, religions, etc.) symbolizes the origin of mankind (i.e. Africa). Throughout the song we hear the sounds of other nations taking their place in the realm of mankind. This is done very subtly but is amazingly powerful. Words do not do it justice. You must hear this song! I promise if you have a soul you will be moved. Disney has done it again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Music That is Beyond Incredible!, December 26, 1999

What a wonderful CD! I saw IllumiNations as well at the Tapestry of Nations at Disneyworld, and this music brings me back! "Reflections of Earth" is a brilliant piece of music! I am in awe of it every time I listen, and I have heard it over a dozen times! "Tapestry of Nations" is also wonderful and you can hear the "Lion King" influence in the jungle-like percussion. What a great piece of composition that does not seem nearly 23 minutes long! On the whole, the CD is great music with a nice message for the millennium. Leave it to Disney! I hope more people hear it and that its popularity soars, it deserves to be heard by many!
