I gave this book to my kids and let them plan the trip,

My daughters (ages 13 and 16) carried this book around the theme parks like a Bible. It doesn't go into a lot of details about things teens don't care about or affect (their father and I chose the hotel, for example) but has plenty of fun little trivia and good information about the rides. We've used Kim Wright Wiley's guide Walt Disney World With Kids on several previous trips and find it really helpful. This is a great addition.

This book made the whole trip with my family so much easier. The format was wonderful, and I'd recomend it to anyone who's going to Disney World with even just one teen. It'll make the whole trip smoother, and calmer, and without half the normal fights. There's nothing else like it.

My 12 year old thought he was too old to go to Disney World. This book was a great resource to prove to him that he's have fun. After the trip he decided that he'd go back anytime. Thanks for the tips!

I didn't expect a Birnbaum or Unofficial Guide to Disney when I read this book, so unlike the negative reviewer, I was pleased with what I found.
I found this to be an interesting perspective on the parks, that didn't pull punches. I liked hearing how a teenager perceived the different rides and attractions. This could be quite helpful if you are traveling to Disney World with teenagers. The book is a bit outdated now, but it still had some useful information.

I'm taking a youth group to Disney World this fall and bought this book along with several others. I must say I appreciate the fact that the authors gave their honest opinions about what rides are good for teens and which ones are just so-so. We have limited time in the theme parks during our visit and really need to use our time wisely, but the "official guides" we all rah-rah and "Everything is equally great." This was much more like "If you can only do five things, these are the things you should do." And, like somebody else said, it really does sound like it was written by a teenager.

A good teenagers point of view,

I was able to browse this book in about 15 minutes in a book store. It is not an in depth book and doesn't deal at all with Hotels, touring plans, restaurants, etc. Buy a different book for that information. It went through each park (both Disney and Universal), briefly described the rides that interested the author and rated every ride (from the authors perspective). It did seem to be actually written by a teenager (the daughter of the co-author.) The author held no punches (as opposed to the Birnbaum WDW for kids by kids) and certainly was critical of certain attractions. The perspective on certain rides and attractions was definitely different from mine (being 43) but probably hit the right notes for the intended audience. For a family, with teenagers going to Orlando for the first time, this book is probably worth it, and for the parents to read to plan what thier teenagers will like or not.

Quite possibly the worst WDW guide I have read,
By Richard Blake (Indianapolis, Indiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Walt Disney World 4 Teens by Teens : The Hottest Rides, Coolest Shows, and Best Places to Eat and Shop! (Paperback)
Clearly the author cannot speak for her generation at all. Her reviews are biased and opinionated, and her tips offer little to no help for those unfamiliar with the Walt Disney World resort. She refers to Epcot's trademark attraction, Spaceship Earth, as a "snooze," when I have seen plenty of teenagers who having nothing but good remarks to say about the ride. My advice: stick with "Birnbaum's Official Guide." It is suitable for WDW fans of ALL ages: from young children, through teens, honeymooners, and the elderly. It will offer you far better--and less opinionated--information. |
