From the Publisher

This book will help you discover Walt Disney World’s secrets, history, hidden treasures, and the little details that make everything so wonderful. It is divided into six chapters. Chapter One covers the "World" in general; the next four chapters cover each of the theme parks; and the sixth and last focuses on the areas "Beyond the Parks" — the resort hotels, the monorail, Downtown Disney, and the water parks. Each chapter begins with multiple-choice questions, followed by the correct answers and additional fun facts about the subject. Chapter Two: The Magic Kingdom opens with general questions about the park and then is subdivided by land (Adventureland, Frontierland, etc.), while Chapter Three: Epcot, starts with general questions and then is subdivided by its two "Worlds." Thus, a question about Space Mountain, for example, would be found in the Tomorrowland section of Chapter Two. The questions in Chapter One challenge you to remember WDW history and to identify where in WDW you might find a particular character, prop, attraction, etc. or hear a particular line of dialogue (taken from an attraction script or theme song). It also includes questions related to any and all parts of WDW. Chapter Six, in contrast, quizzes you specifically on your knowledge of the non-theme park parts of WDW. Walt Disney World has gone through many changes in its 30-plus years. So some questions let readers take a step back in time to revisit original concepts and attractions that no longer exist. Fans who miss Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride or were never able to experience Horizons firsthand, for example, can stay in touch or get better acquainted with them here. To add to the fun, you’ll find fascinating tidbits of information highlighted throughout the book. Looking for all the information you can get about a particular ride, resort, or whatever? Check the Index and look for your subject by name. And try not to be too disappointed if you don’t find it. While this book contains hundreds of questions about Walt Disney World, WDW has thousands of nooks and crannies. One book simply can’t cover them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch for any Disney World fan!!!, July 9, 2004
This review is from: The Walt Disney World Trivia Book: Secrets, History & Fun Facts Behind the Magic (Volume 1) (Paperback)
I've seen many Disney Trivia books over the years but only a few pages are ever dedicated to the most visited resort in the world. FINALLY a book that takes this entire resort and puts it into a light even us Disney fans have to take a step back from and say, "WOW I didn't know that"! I've visited Disney for years and surf the sites on a daily basis, yet I still found myself taken back by the information/material in this book. First you can you quiz yourself on what you THINK you know. I found some things I thought were fact were just actually well accepted rumors in Disney Web Circles, but this book cuts through those and gives you an in depth answer to each question without adding extensive writting that goes no where, it just gets right to the point. This brings me to my second point and I think most valuable point. This book is not just a question answer book. The answers are not just left as " B. EPCOT or A. 17" This book gives you the answer and provides short explaintions to why its that answer. The facts that come with the answers are great at giving you a behind the scenes look at the park while using the trivia to guide you through it. I can find myself taking more time reading the answers then the question just so I can read the facts that this book touches on. If you want to test yourself on Disney World Trivia and want to take that up a notch and learn more about the resort then you ever have, buy this book. The author has a Disney World Trivia site as well that gives you an idea of what this book contains and I'll tell you it delivers. Also while reading this you'll notice that he keeps the material on a level that we can all relate to and I believe this is due to the fact that he does take the time to converse with the average person interested in the Disney Topic or with people that would find this topic as a general interest. A definate buy even if its your first visit or your 100th (for me its my 30th)to Disney World. For those visiting Disney World for the first time, a great idea would be adding this to your guide book purchase. You'll find yourself standing in those long lines reading this book and being amazed at ever turn while having fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for trivia fans, June 7, 2004
This review is from: The Walt Disney World Trivia Book: Secrets, History & Fun Facts Behind the Magic (Volume 1) (Paperback)
From the really interesting like "Why should you ride Big Thunder Mountain railroad in the late afternoon?" to the most innocuous of trivia like "The Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse has about how many man-made leaves?" you will find plenty of facts about Walt Disney World in the pages of "The Walt Disney World Trivia Book". Each area of the park has it's own section (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, etc.) and within that section they are subdivided (i.e. Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland). This makes it easy to read trivia about a particular section while in that location. Finally, there is something interesting to do while waiting in those long lines. For anyone headed to Walt Disney World or who just wants to impress their friends by the depth of their knowledge, "The Walt Disney World Trivia Book" is a recommended read. (By the way, you ride the Big Thunder Mountain railroad in the afternoon because the afternoon heat melts the grease and it runs faster and there are about 300,000 leaves in the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Facts and Mysteries Solved, May 30, 2006
This review is from: The Walt Disney World Trivia Book: Secrets, History & Fun Facts Behind the Magic (Volume 1) (Paperback)
"This book will help you discover Walt Disney World's secrets, history, hidden treasures, and the little details that make everything so wonderful." ~Louis A. Mongello

Louis A. Mongello is a fan of Walt Disney World and first visited this magical land when he was only three-years old. Since then he has been a frequent visitor and finally decided to put all his knowledge in one book. The information includes chapters on:

All Around the `World'
The Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Disney-MGM Studios
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Beyond the Parks

Questions are presented in a multiple choice format:

In what year did Walt Disney World open?
a.) 1965
b.) 1969
c.) 1970
d.) 1971

The first chapter of questions is followed by a chapter of answers to chapter one. The answer:

1. d.) 1971
October 1, 1971, was the official opening day of Walt Disney World and the Magic Kingdom...

The answers are normally a paragraph or so and can extend past one page. Other questions include:

The illusion of ghosts in the ballroom of The Haunted Mansion is created by what technique?

The remains of what technology lie abandoned at the bottom of the Seven Seas Lagoon?

A very entertaining read especially if you visited Walt Disney World and had lots of questions as a child.
