5.0 out of 5 stars Paul's Review on " New World of Tommorow"˙, January 1, 2000

This book offered me a great chance to see EPCOT Center as it was formed and created. It also looks deeply into each of the origanal rides including both Future World and World Showcase areas. The conceptual art work in this book is also increadible. This book also has many photos of the inside and outside of the rides. For the avad fan or for the first timer I suggest this book

5.0 out of 5 stars The best look at how Disney creates theme park magic, June 3, 1998
This review is from: Walt Disney's EPCOT Center: Creating the new world of tomorrow (Hardcover)
I got this book for my birthday in January 1982, the year EPCOT opened. I had memorized every word before my family went in October. This book gives the reader a complete look at how the World's largest construction project at the time was conceived, and built. I'm hoping Disney will release a similar book about its new park AMIMAL KINGODM.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tomorrow that was, wasnt and is no more, August 17, 2008

This is a great book that captures the history of the formation of EPCOT based on concepts that were proposed. Some did not come to fruition. Some were put into place, but have now been replaced by others. This now reads as a history/nostalga book. It is still a fun read. The pictures are beautiful, and the text enjoyable. I have a version that shows ISBN 0810908190 published in 1982, 240 pages as listed here, but has a slightly different cover. I will try to load a photo.

I first read Walt Disney's Epcot Center right after the park had first opened. It's Awesome! If your a Disney nut like I am, you will definately like this book. It gives all of the ideas Walt Disney had for the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tommorrow.(EPCOT)

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Memories, May 29, 2011
This book captures EPCOT the way it was supposed to be; NO Mickey Mouse running around, or Disney themed rides. It was one of the main reasons EPCOT became my favorite park. If I wanted to see Mickey and the gang I'd go over to the Magic Kingdom. EPCOT was a great escape to so many different lands and unique rides. Now I feel it's just another Disney place. I took this book out after many years working with the Disney production film and tape crew and I found myself saying, "I wish EPCOT still looked like this." Even though it was not exactly what Walt had envisioned, it was definitely a unique and well thought out attraction. I guess they felt they had to make it more appealing to kids, but in that sense it took a great deal away from the adults. I'm glad this book came out when it did. It represents a frozen time period I will always remember.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sigh, I miss the original EPCOT, September 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book makes me reminisce about how cool the original EPCOT once was before the Disney money machine took over. Almost all of the rides had corporate sponsors, and there were no signs of Nemo, Ellen Degeneris, Mickey, or any other Disney characters. There were a few unique EPCOT ones, and that was ok. Future World was actually futuristic back then, Communicore had cutting edge technology, not X - Boxes to play. EPCOT had a vision back then. EPCOT was probably the closest thing to a World's Fair with the glimpse of the future and the country's that participated. Now, EPCOT's vision is just to make money, not to provide the messages it once provided about our planet. This book tells about their original vision and the rides that told that story. I highly recommend it both to World's Fair enthusiasts and vintage Disney fans.

Have been looking for a book for some time now that gives a historical background on Epcot. This one is perfect. Many stories about how and why things you see today are in place. Lists many attractions that "almost were" bit never came to be. Great selection of photos during the artist renderings, actual construction, and the finished product. If you're an Epcot junkie, this is a must have for your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is great!, April 12, 2008
This book is great is because it's from when Epcot Center was just opening. It was published before the park even opened. Some things it discusses never even made it to the parks! For example, there are beautiful sketches of the Africa pavilion in the World Showcase, which never came to be. This book is not what I expected, it's better than I expected. I think every Disney fan should have one in their collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, explains most of how they did it, May 6, 1998
This review is from: Walt Disney's EPCOT Center: Creating the new world of tomorrow (Hardcover)
I really like this book. It explains so much of how the details were created, and then how they put the details together to create a vast expanse. Disney got all the details right with this park, and the book shows how.
